Yes, on the 6th day He created male and female. Then in Chapter 2, He made Adam from the dust and Eve from Adam's rib. He did this after creating the race of men all over the Earth? Read in particular Gen 2:5. Chapter one is an over view, then there comes the detail of the creation of man.

According to the Bible, Adam and Eve were the frist two humans. Adam could very well symbolize the gender of all men and Eve the gender of all women. However, the Bible doesn't say that.
