It was a bad idea. That's not the point. No one is going to get anywhere in the matter of fixing the mistakes until the architects of the whole mess are gone. In the meantime, if the faithful don't give in and keep the faith and hope and pray, things will be set to right. It's not like the church hasn't gone through adversity before.

Re the communist infiltration of the Church in the lead up to Vatican II - have any of you heard anything connecting Kasper to the commies?
I just find it interesting that he should be "good friends" with Alexei who we know was a former KGB place-man in the Russian Orthodox Church. I am sure that it was this friendship which got him his current position, and I would love to know who pulled the strings to get him there.
