In this context, Buby said it would be helpful if John Paul II in Lourdes were to couch his approach to the dogma in scriptural rather than dogmatic or juridical terms.

What a head-facing-backward notion this is. Scripture is the place where Dogma finds it genesis, not a means of camoflouge (sp?) should more comfortable means of persuasion fail.

One question currently making the rounds in ecumenical dialogue is the extent to which Christian denominations that have not been part of the Catholic Church for several hundred years can, as a condition of unity, be asked to acquiesce to doctrines they had no role in formulating.

In this context, Buby said it would be helpful if John Paul II in Lourdes were to couch his approach to the dogma in scriptural rather than dogmatic or juridical terms.

Wonder if the following passages from Scripture would satisfy Buby?

"But of him are you in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom and justice and sanctification and redemption:" 1 Corinthians 1:30

"For wisdom will not enter into a malicious soul, nor dwell in a body subject to sins." Wisdom 1:4
