###".....that enough good works will earn them a place in heaven, in part reflecting a Catholic view,..."###

I have been a Catholic for 72 years and I tell you that statement is completely false. It shows the survey to be skewed rendering it as false. We all know about the path to hell is paved with good intentions (works)

If the following "works" are only Catholic then non-Catholics have to rethink getting into heaven.

The Corporal Works of Mercy:
Feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, give drink to the thirsty, visit the sick, clothe the naked, visit the imprisoned, bury the dead.

The Spiritual Works of Mercy:
Help the sinner, bear wrongs patiently, teach the ignorant, forgive injuries, counsel the doubtful, comfort the sorrowful, pray for the living and the dead.

The forgoing are the only works I know. By not doing them we are in trouble. We must also believe in Christ Crucified and confess our sins and be forgiven.

The author is describing what he says is a common teen belief; he himself notes a Catholic connection. (Though I do recall that in Everyman, the medieval morality play, Good Works was the only character that agreed to accompany Everyman into the grave, after Good Fellowship, Family, Wealth, etc. ran the other way!)
