I hope the idiot Catholic clerics who permitted this to happen had enough sense to remove the host from the tabernacle.
The idiot clerics to whom you refer are at the very top of the top in Rome. A high profile event such as this at FATIMA would never be able to take place without full approval at the highest levels. This is not some loose cannon nest of clerics acting on their own accord, it's much more than that.
At times, one honestly can't fault those who believe the see is vacant or that there is some concerted effort to create some kind of man-made world religion from hell.
This makes me too sad to say anything right now.
