In theory, I agree. I am suspicious of the new Rite of Exercism though. In addition, politically there is little choice but to chant "Zero Tolerance".

Yes,the new rite is weak. I am aware of Amsworth's book and his analysis of the deficiencies of the new rite. However,I was only speaking to the ancient rite as performed in the 70's and a priest who had never received another complaint.

You've every reason to be. Fr. Amorth has some choice things to say about it, none of them good. Cardinal Ratzinger, though, made sure that there is an out for them. With the bishop's permission, they can use the old rite. I would think any bishop who has an exorcist on staff, at this point, would allow it.
