Personal experience. I have a Catholic friend whose husband of 23 years left her for another woman. She met a man after several years and wanted to get remarried in the Church. The cost was nearly $3000 for the paperwork but she did get her annulment despite having 3 sons from her husband. This is fairly routine in NYC. Also, didn't one of the Kennedy boys get an annulment in order to remarry? What about Uncle Ted as well? It is fairly common practice on the East Coast for the Church to grant annulments despite a long term marriage with offspring if you can pay the fees.

I don't believe this figure for a minute. Having worked in a tribunal for almost ten years, the "cost" of an annulment is almost never larger than $500. And, the diocese will waive that if the person can't pay.
