We know that Kerry is extremely culpable. What is uncertain is whether or not his culpability will earn him eternal damnation.
You are a better Catholic than I if you choose to pray for him. I myself choose to pray for those (myself included) who strive for goodness but sometimes fall short.

I guess I thought it was uncharitable in the way - especially when the inevitable comparisons arise. The Tinman was much more of a Christian than John Kerry is.

Surely we should pray for everyone, even the worst evildoers.

Nothing good can come of this. Mccarrick isn't interested in actually doing anything.
Words, words, words.

Surely we SHOULD. But I DON'T. Frankly, I can barely find the time for the good people I know who need prayers.
Well, at least the evil folks have someone praying for them. As I said and I will repeat, you are a better Catholic than I.

I get tired of sugarcoating evildoers. Your comment about Kerry was restrained and considering who he is and the damage he has caused, even kind.

Nothing good can come of this. Mccarrick isn't interested in actually doing anything. Sadly, I must agree. McCarrick didn't care when he was the bishop of Metuchen that the religion books in the high school compared the sightings of the risen Jesus in the gospels to the sightings of the dead Elvis in the early eighties.
Nor did he care that detailed birth control was taught in the junior and senior religion - aka "marriage and family life" classes. Nor did he care when the head of the theology department passed around a petition to get a woman's "health clinic" (abortion mill) into a neighboring town.
McCarrick knew me by name when I lived in Metuchen. These abuses are the ones that I and other parents personally informed him of. His inaction on these issues caused me to move my family back to Philadelphia.
I have no idea if he knew the proclivities of the homosexual predatory priest who was put in charge of the CYO in the Cathedral parish. My children knew teenage boys who claimed to have been propositioned by this particular sodomite. My wife had heard whispers about the priest. We had no proof, but our children didn't participate in CYO activities. I find it hard to believe that McCarrick wouldn't have heard the whispers that many teenagers apparently knew and even my wife had heard.

Wasn't there a meeting in Rome regarding pro-abortion, American, "Catholic" politicians a week or so ago? I thought some American bishops had gone to Rome to discuss this.

McCarrick has been accused of his own ... misdeeds. The New York media elites know the history of it, and IMO used it to blackmail the USCCB into silence on the homosexuality issue going into that first crisis meeting after the cardinals met with the Pope. The media buried the story on McCarrick, and the USCCB buried the story that the crisis was really about homosexuality.
If the New York media elites know about it (and I have firsthand knowledge that they do), then Kerry's campaign knows about it. You can be sure that if McCarrick tries to push Kerry too hard, Kerry will play this trump card. The foreordained results of this meeting should be obvious to all, long before the lenses start clicking at this whitewash photo op meeting.

Horribly curious to know what you know, but I know that you cannot let us know. I am really upset that these bishops don't have the spines to be the leaders they are called to be. Do they realize why the color Cardinals wear is red? Do they realize what they are called to be willing to do? Sadly, I think not (George, Rigali excluded).

Good memery:
Kerry, Candidate and Catholic, Creates Uneasiness for Church
Senator John Kerry's support for abortion rights and stem cell research has prompted discussions among Roman Catholic bishops and Vatican officials over how to respond to a presidential candidate who professes Catholicism while taking stands contrary to church teaching.
The issue has been a topic in the Vatican this week as bishops from Florida, Georgia and North and South Carolina hold long-scheduled meetings with the pope and Vatican officials on a variety of issues.
"They are basically struggling with this, as we are," said one visiting American, Bishop John H. Ricard of Pensacola-Tallahassee, the chairman of a task force expected to produce guidelines for American bishops on relations with Catholic politicians.
Most recently, Bishop Ricard said, the bishops were troubled by Mr. Kerry's vote against a bill that makes it a crime to harm a fetus during an assault on a pregnant woman. President Bush signed the legislation on Thursday, and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops immediately issued a news release applauding him.
Bishop Ricard said in Rome: "Of course we were disappointed with Kerry's voting against it. We were disappointed with others who voted against it, but as Catholic lawmakers we hold them to a higher standard." ...

Don't have much faith in the Cardinal. He gave a thoroughly orthodox homily on Easter Sunday that was broadcast on EWTN. I suppose, upon reflection, that orthodoxy might be a relative term, but he certainly avowed the Real Presence in the Eucharist.

What I am concerned about is his apparent facililation. Maybe he knows that there is a schism in the Church and he is trying to manuever so as not to precipitate an open break. But if that is the situation then it is one that has been caused by a lack of consensus among the bishops.
