I am familiar with Gary North. I do not consider him mainstream Calvinism.

I'm not saying that he is. I was just listing him as an example of someone who has been writing against the home church movement, which illustrates that people are taking it seriously. North has broken away from the Chalcedon foundation, but he is still a Reconstructionist. Sandlin is also a former Chalcedon person, but I believe he is no longer a Reconstructionist and wants to be more mainstream.

The home church movement is unbiblical.

I agree. My only point was that the growing home church movement is evidence of a problem with the question of authority. Men are asking themselves, "By what authority does this guy tell me what to do?" I've been reading about this occurring within the Calvinist tradition, but it looks like it's an even bigger problem within some other groups.

I am a credo baptist, non-denominational type.

I didn't realize that. I wasn't meaning to be personal when I described the hard-core Calvinists' view of Baptists.

North says that prosperity theology is embraced some theonomic principles.

That's probably true. Every heresy embraces some good principles.

"Every heresy embraces some good principles."

Exactly, often while denying others.

No problem.

BTW, I went to seminary with Jim Jordan and Ray Sutton -- two Chalcedon types. Both are great guys whom I respect.

<ost of the homechurchers I know were homeschoolers first. The issue wasn't authority only, but a desire (preoccupation!) to shelter their families from worldliness.

The HOME CHURCH MOVEMENT

is VITAL, ESSENTIAL.

And, the Body of Christ is disobedient to have neglected getting it more in place across the board and across the globe.

The day is fast approaching when the home churches will be the only authentic clusters of true believers left alive.

I consider this 100% true--a very rare thing, for me.

I consider pontifical pontifications otherwise to be arrogant and ignorant and ultimately very destructive to the cause of Christ.
