Single servants are often highly praise worthy. However, the office of elder/bishop is not an area open to them. I interpreted that as his children, if any. I didnt see in here a positive requirement that a person have children.
Otherwise, it makes I Co. 7 hard to explain when Paul suggests singleness as a worthy pursuit. I can't believe Paul would advocate a lifestyle choice that would create an entire class disqualified for ministry.
Who said they were disqualified for ministry. Not me. But they do not qualify for ministry as bishop/elders.
Mananging ones home (wife and kids) is training ground for managing the household of faith as Paul plainly states.
