***"Therefore, on a Saturday afternoon with a line of penitents waiting for confession, the parish priest may follow a more "streamlined" version of the rite, which would include by custom the traditional format for confession."****
A line of penitents? Not in my Church.
A week ago Saturday we had the Penitential Service with 7 Priests. I must say all who attended went to confession
The problem was that out of 500 parishoners, 100 attended the service.
This past Saturday the usual 7 or 8 went to confession.
It is time the Priests in their homilys admonished those who go to communion without going to confession. It is time for the priests to preach confession in every homily.

Well, there are in mine. I've had to wait as long as 45 minutes.
