"Was it God's determinate will that Satan attempt to derail Christ from His course ?"

Apparently yes since it occurred. God is always in control. In fact it says:

Mat 4:1 "Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil."

God didn't wait for Satan to come to him. He went to Satan.

All you NES folks seem upset that a Calvinist might want put up a shingle on the Story thread, are you guys afraid of a newcomer to the NES that is a Calvinist?

I don't agree with their doctrine on the tulip at all, and when you can get one of them off of the tulip you'll have a hard time debating them on anything else in the Bible.

I ain't scared of no ghost. :)

Welcome to the Story Dr. Eckleburg.

I can give you the same type of deconstruct material for Judaism that you gave for Christianity and even for the entire Bible for that matter, why not be cynical and try to get to the truth on these matter's?

Anyway go ahead and start to post some of it. I'm aware that animal sacrifice was something non-Israelis participated in as well. But beyond that I'd be interested to look at it.

I'm on Free Republic to learn.

And Free Republic has graciously and gloriously facilitated the learning of a great deal about many things.

There's something to be learned on every thread on this forum. But we don't know what we don't know until we've actually been on a thread, read the posts and sometimes engaged in the debate.

Oh, and did you just insult me somewhere in all that stuff?

No, I did not just insult you "in all that stuff" I wrote.

Just as you, most likely, didn't mean to insult me, right?

I ain't scared of no ghost. :)

Somebody scared? Would prefer dialogue over a manipulating interviewing technique. That's all.

God didn't wait for Satan to come to him. He went to Satan.

It's realizations like this, given by righteous posters on Easter morning, that make Free Republic so rewarding.

Thanks for the reminder, Harley. Have a blessed Resurrection Day.

I won't deal with any individual who thinks their comments are so worthwhile that he/she feels it important to continually ping the mods.

Hi Dr. E.

Thanks. All the Calvinists' posts are great. Perhaps we'll change a few of these heretics' minds yet. ;O)

I'm praying God will Elect Malachi. We need more Messiaic Jews. :O)

Hope you had a blessed Easter.

I disagree obviously with this predetermination stuff but they have livened things up:') I didn't want to "insult" the Doc but I think she is more like us than she knows and would fit in. That's why I was asking her what the attraction was to this thread. Can't you find us some more fundamentalists too though ? Not the straight laced kind but the one's with a sense of humor,ok? It gets lonely here when it's just me.

One more thing. Before you offer the Doc membership will you get her to take the "thou shall not have any commnication with the mods oath" first? :')

Respectfully, wouldn't a warning have been appropriate? At least one of those suspended hadn't ever been even warned by you before.

***No, I got it. But I figured I'd take you up on it anyway. ;o)***

Fair enough, just had to go on record, especially for those who take things out of context.

You can't see what they're doin? Plain as day to me. Calvinist are trying to get the thread shutdown. Doing God's bidding so to speak so that what happened to me doesn't happen to anyone else.

That thought has occurred to me, esp after the mod was pinged below my post about not pinging them here.

Allow me to share my favorite free will story from the Old Testament: Jonah

Ahem, you see, God told Jonah that he needed to go to Nineveh

In a burst of free will not seen since my three year old wanted to cross the street by herself, Jonah decided he could do whatever he wanted.

Well, as all of you know, the boat on which he was traveling was caught up in a storm, he knew he was busted and instructed the pagan sailors to throw him overboard.

The sailors do so and along comes a great fish, swallows him, and Jonah spends the nest three days in the belly of the fish.

He repents, gets spit out, and against his free will preaches repentance to the good people of Nineveh!

The moral of this story is simple:

The Only Thing Your Free Will Can Do Is Get You Inside A Fish Belly</southern accent>

(If ya'll lived in the South you would be awed by that great analogy)

That we are talking to them? We usually shut down or go to chit chat. Do I need to remind you though that you brought them here? :')
