That part of the movie freaked me out. It looked like a full satanic version of "mini me" (from "Austin Powers).

Anyway, I don't see that baby as a scriptural reference. I don't know what exactly that was about (unless it comes from one of the catholic "visions" from the 18 or 19th century that Gibson drew from).
