Considering the topic of this thread, and in light of the vocal and righteous support of Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" by the Calvinists on this forum, it seems misdirected to stifle the 500-years-old debate.
Strong beliefs shouldn't be feared, but encouraged; they raise the bar for all of us.
Just like Paul encouraged the learned Alexandrian Jew, Apollos, who "was a great help to those who by grace had believed."
"For he (Apollos) vigorously refuted the Jews in public debate, proving from Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ." -- Acts 18:28

Good Doctor,
It has always been and always will be the plight of us who take seriously the soveriegnty of God and the devasting noetic effect of sin against those whom in their own autonomous judgment declare that the majoritarian ethic should rule over and against divine revelation that we gladly take our stripes in defense of our King.

LOL.
Just think about the commotion it would cause when sung as a group, and not solo.

I hope so, because from what I've heard the next Dr Who is going to be played by a gay man.

"Long Overdue"?
Is it Woody's suspension that is "Long Overdue", or rather the attaining of a "kum ba yah", one-world-religion loving (pseudo)Free Republic?
Let me go on the record as to where I stand by quoting these words:
Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. -Matthew 7:13-14 (ESV)
Those of us who believe that salvation is found in the person of Jesus Christ (and not the created "Jesus" of the Book of Mormon, nor the weak "Jesus" of the synergists), recognize that those who are not entering by the narrow gate are headed to hell. We are warning them of their emminent destruction, and realize that to fail to do so would put us in opposition with the commands of God. Thus, there was no way that Woody was going to "get along" with Mormons, Catholics, and others who are travellers along the "wide path".

Thank you, Pastor. Your congregation is lucky to have you in the pulpit.
Is Mel Gibson to be denounced because he aggressively and clearly conveyed his beliefs about the sacrifice of Jesus Christ?
If so, it's no longer a Republic.

First and foremost, all that has passed prior to today is forgiven. However, my forgiveness, unlike that of God, is continuing but not unlimited. After all, I'm a sinner, too. Transgressions of the rules will be met with three warnings, followed by three progressively lengthy suspensions, after which unrepentant posters will be, shall we say, cast into the outer darkness. Totally outrageous violations, of course, remain subject to the ultimate penalty immediately, as always.Link
I would hope that the long record accumulated has been after the blanket amnesty given in the first link. I seem to recall Woody being suspended once. He may have received warning in certain threads, but not suspensions. And I don't see where you can use the last loophole of "totally outrageous violations" as a reason for banning in Woody's last post. The post you chose to ban him for, especially when you were linked here by Jean Chauvin here.
Those were the rules posted by the RM. It would be nice to see them applied uniformly.

We have no King but Jesus ,so we do not bow to any man . I know that is hard to understand by those that place many things between them and God .
As a Calvinist , I believe the eternal fate of every single person that posts to FR has been established, not by their work or the work off a church ...but only by the drawing of the Father and the work of Christ in our behalf .It is written in the heavenlies from before the foundation of the earth .
So I know that even what seems to others to be a "punishment" , is actually a part of Gods foreordained plan . With man being but an instrument . So those that think that Woody has "lost" , in fact can see that in all things God has a purpose.
What is done in the darkness always comes to the light ..someday we will all know the reason why , and it will not be the reason seen by men today

Has Woody been that "bad" in the last few weeks? (I have not been around much..)
To: Wrigley
Thats what I was wondering.
All things work together for the good of those that love God and are CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE
To: RnMomof7
We have no King but Jesus ,so we do not bow to any man . I know that is hard to understand by those that place many things between them and God . That may be true of some Calvinists, but it certainly is not consistent with the Biblical injunctions to honor the authorities in Romans 13 and I Pet. 2.
The assertion, "We have no king but Jesus" is the lie of Americanism that has infiltrated the mindset of too many Christians since the pre-Revolutionary days.
