Prayers for Father Minkler
Posted on 02/24/2004 8:56:49 AM PST by rcath60
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Father Minkler. To me, he was a Saint! I have not heard of one church here in the Albany Diocese where prayer was offered for Father Minkler at its Masses on Sunday. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone was given the word NOT TO!
There is a scheduled Mass for the repose of the soul of Father Minkler this Friday, February 27th, at 6:30 a.m. at St. Brigid's Church in Watervliet. It will be interesting to see if this still takes place now that I have posted it. If anyone has suggestions on how we might get the word out so that this Mass can be well attended, I would like to hear them.

There was, or will be, a memorial service at the VA Hospital where Fr. Minkler worked, today. I didn't catch the time. I heard today on the radio that the public was invited and asked to attend.

I just called the Stratton VA Med Center here in Albany. There is a Memorial Mass for Father Minkler there on Friday, March 12 at NOON.

Thank you for the information. The caller on WROW had it wrong, or I heard him wrong. Thanks again for setting it straight.

I have not heard of one church here in the Albany Diocese where prayer was offered for Father Minkler at its Masses on Sunday. My parish remembered Fr. Minkler in the Prayers of the Faithful.
If anyone has suggestions on how we might get the word out so that this Mass can be well attended, I would like to hear them.
The quickest way to get this information out would be throught the media. Talk radio - WGY, WROW. Also, you should contact WTEN. They have been covering Fr. Minkler's story from the minute it broke and sent a camera crew down to the cemetery, for his funeral. I'm sure they would make this information known.
Thank you for posting the information to this forum. I'll be there!
Soul of Christ, sanctify me Body of Christ, save me Blood of Christ, inebriate me Water from Christ's side, wash me Passion of Christ, strengthen me O good Jesus, hear me Within Thy wounds hide me Suffer me not to be separated from Thee From the malicious enemy defend me In the hour of my death call me And bid me come unto Thee That I may praise Thee with Thy saints and with Thy angels Forever and ever Amen

My church had something in the Prayers of the Faithful about father Minkler too. And they prayed for Bishop Hubbard too.

Amen.
We should do better than just prayers.
I recommend offering Plenary Indulgence for the good Father, which requires Sacramental Confession, Holy Communion, Prayers and intention for the Pope, and qualified Spiritual Works.
Trusting in the Mercy of the Lord that the good Father's sins are forgiven at the last moment with repentance, Plenary Indulgence would immediately send him to heaven.

St Mary's Church in Amsterdam, NY remembered Fr. Minkler in the Prayer of the Faithful at all the masses this weekend. Of course, on Monday the Bishop's stooges were coming up with plans to close our school.

I saw that on the news last night and did a post on it. Now this afternoon I heard they are closing two more schools in Schenectady. You have Father Win Bath...you are fortunate!!!

Catholic military chaplains also minister to patients at VA hospitals all over the country. Father John Minkler responded to a patient's request to see a priest at a VA hospital in New York. The young man had AIDS. He told his story to Father Minkler, who soon learned that the dying man had been rejected by his family. After administering the sacrament of reconciliation and giving him Communion, Father Minkler called the young man's parents and pleaded with them to come to the bedside of their son, who was quickly slipping away. The young man's mother was at his side when he died. Just before his death the young veteran expressed his profound gratitude to Father Minkler: "Thank you, Father, for making it possible for me to see Jesus." That statement goes to the very heart of what the Catholic military chaplaincy is all about: helping those who serve our country and their families see Jesus
