Priest charged in pot case under investigation for sex abuse

The Associated Press
2/11/04 6:56 AM

AKRON, Ohio (AP) -- A priest charged with growing marijuana in his church residence is under investigation for alleged child abuse, a prosecutor said.

Assistant Summit County Prosecutor Mary Ann Kovach said Tuesday that she plans to meet with police to determine if sex charges should be brought against Rev. Richard Arko, 40.

The allegation surfaced during a court appearance by Andrew J. Smith, 25, of nearby Barberton, who tipped police last month to marijuana plants allegedly grown by Arko inside the rectory of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church.

Smith, in court Tuesday for violating probation in an unrelated case, claimed Arko began a sexual relationship with him when he was 15.

He told his attorney that the relationship continued through January, when the priest posted Smith's bond after his arrest on charges stemming from a theft at Prince of Peace, where Arko served as pastor.

Over the years, Smith said in court, Arko showered him with gifts, money and drugs in exchange for sex.

Smith, whose credibility could be an issue in the marijuana investigation, has a history of drug abuse and is under a 10-count indictment on charges of forgery and receiving stolen property.

The charges stem from the theft of checks and a credit card from Prince of Peace. The credit card belonged to Arko and the checks belonged to the church.

Arko, who has been ousted as pastor and ordered out of the rectory, doesn't have a phone listing in the Akron area and could not be reached for comment. His attorney, Don Varian, said he was aware of Smith's informant role but he declined comment on the molesting allegation.

Robert Tayek, a spokesman for the Cleveland Catholic Diocese, said the church was unaware of the allegation by Smith.

Norton police, working on Smith's tip, raided the Prince of Peace rectory and recovered 35 marijuana plants along with the equipment used to grow the drug. Arko has pleaded innocent.

Smith's attorney, James Gatskie, said Smith was willing to take a polygraph test. "I don't think anybody who talks to Andy can come to any other conclusion than this young man was preyed upon since he was 15 years old," Gatskie said.

It is good to see that the Amrit Yoga Institute, http://www.amrityoga.com/classes.htm , has not turned its back on Father Rick.

And the bellydancers at Visions of the Nile, http://www.amrityoga.com/classes.htm , still sing praise to Father Rick:

Her steadfast and by far the most enriching and education teaching experience has been with Yoga Fr. Rick Arko from Sacred Ground Yoga. Susan has been with Fr. for six years and feels "there's no better feeling when you finally find your teacher/Guru." Through Fr. Rick's introduction, Susan was led to the teachings of Yoga Amrit Desai which she is currently studying and practicing Yogi Desai's teaching for future certifications in Yoga Teacher Training and Yoga Nidra program. "My intention for the future of Yoga is to bring these ancient and healing teaching to anyone who is interested in enjoying a healthier, happier life."

We can't do anthing about Father Rick, but we have only two days to stop this!

From Cwnews.com:

http://www.cwnews.com/offtherecord/offtherecord.cfm?task=singledisplay&recnum=1546

Ponder this

The Diocese of Cleveland issues a warning to Catholic parishes that seeing a movie, The Passion of the Christ, which illustrates the events of the Gospels, may lead to the rise of anti-Semitism in churchgoing Catholics. Meanwhile, a local Catholic university allows the production of the "Vagina Monologues" on campus with proceeds going to a pro-abortion group. The diocese's response when told about this immoral play supporting the abortion of babies? "No comment."

Evidently, according to the Diocese of Cleveland, the greater threat to society is a movie about the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, not a play that promotes sexual immorality and the funding of pro-abortion groups.

"Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe (in me) to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were put around his neck and he were thrown into the sea." (Mark 9:42)

Saturday, the Cleveland Plain Dealer carried a story about the Diocese of Cleveland "warning" Catholics about the "dangers" of "The Passion of Christ." How absurd. Let us hope Bishop Pilla will see fit to intevene and stop this true abomination about to take place at a Catholic University in his diocese.

A priest who grows pot in the rectory basement with his live-in male lover and teaches yoga on the side might have taken even worse liberties with his vows? NEVER!!!

And once again the lamestream media seeks to deceive through the incorrect use of the term "child abuse."

At fifteen, the victim was a minor, but not a child.

This was not pedophilia, but rather the acting out of the obsessive lust for youths that is characteristic of men who suffer from same-sex attraction syndrome. This obsession is one of the defining symptoms of the disorder.

Or, to put it another way, homos have always preyed on adolescent boys, and always will. Wherever a man who suffers from SSAD has access to youths, those youths are at risk.

This is what the lamestream media seeks to obscure through their misuse of the term, "child abuse." They wish to create the impression that the offense is not attributable to homosexuality (SSAD), but to the separate disorder of pedophilia.

If one realizes that allowing SSAD sufferers access to youths is reckless folly, then it follows that they must be barred from certain professions and occupations, and even some recreational pursuits.

Those who support the pervofascist agenda are desperate to keep people from following this line of reasoning to its inevitable conclusion.

LOL

I remember reading through that belly dancing link about a month ago. The only thing is that once you realize that these people are for real, all you can do is laugh.

Then you add the pot plants, the yoga and the gay teen sex and you have a situation that a script writer couldn't come up with.

It's so sad and debauched that you have to laugh at it or you'll cry. In many diocese it's become a full-blown clown show run by full blown God-hating pagan fiends.

Tsk tsk. You don't sound as if you have the "Spirit of Vatican II" living in you.

There's no doubt that Smith was preyed on at least until he was 20 or so.

After that, he likely enjoyed it.

This may be embarassing to some of us in cleveland, but the gay flag still flies on the diocesan website and the "Gay Rainbow Headless Dove" still resides on the diocesan website.

It is terrible what is going on with Fr. Arko. The worst however is that Bishop Pilla quoted as saying in the Akron Beacon J. 26 Jan 04, wrote that the "tremendous ministry that Arko has done can not allow me to overlook this dreadful judgement that led to his arrest" pray tell what tremendous ministry??? To be an allegedly pot smoking/pedaling/pederast/sexual favours/ paying priest to a 15 year old minor Mr. Andrew J.Smith who is now 25 married with 3 children and realizes he was 'victimized' by a bad priest- if you can call him that. Then what does Bishop Amos say?- in the same article "perhaps Bishop Pilla put it best when he said we are confused and concerned that this man who has done so much good could allow marijuana to be growing in his church residence and allow someone to live at the rectory without permission." What good could that possibly be- the good he did when he was not behaving perversely, abusing his parishioners trust, promoting drugs and not just allowing it, letting another man a Mr. Jensen Powell live in the rectory and be a partner in crime in more ways than one? Now would that be the good he did as a guru instructor or all of the hogwash New Age feel good religion without any moral stricture that he was spreading to very mixed up Catholics at his parish? There has been a false kind of fellow Bishop loyalty to each other instead of a love for the Catholic truth. As Pope St. Gregory the Great said, "It is better that scandal arise than that the truth be suppressed! Fr. Arko should be stripped of his faculties as priest or live the rest of his life in a chaste monastery (if we can find him one.) I'm sure there are still a few good traditional ones left. The Bishops should stop all of this nonsense and outright condemn the bad behavior of bad priests and reinstate some of the good ones who have been removed over false allegations. I heard there was a good priest in the Cleveland diocese that was taken out on thumped up charges. I think his name was Fr. Vile of ST. Rose of Lima parish. If Bishop Pilla is going to say that bad priest's have a "tremendous" ministry when they happen to be Yoga guru's then I guess it is logical that he pushes Future Church by allowing them to meet on Church property and funds all of the New Age Health and Wellness centers around the Cleveland Diocese that promote Yoga, Rieki, Crystals, Winter Solstice and every other Eastern religion aberration. Bishop Pilla should be restoring people's faith in the Catholic Church instead of taring it down as that poor former lawyer of his faith was assailed because he spoke the truth on The 60 min. show. If the Bishop can not clean up his house than he should resign. It is long overdue.

The Cleveland Diocese situation with Bishop Pilla can also be found on the bottom post. The liturgical Dancer Kathy Mihelick and Fr. J.Glenn Murray of liturgical revolutionary fame is mentioned. This article also exposes the Gnostic kind of feel good mentality of the revolutionary liturgists and as the author calls them "fancy dancers". Note the homosexual "liturgical dancer" Michael Mansfield who gives liturgical dance workshops all over the diocese and teaches young children ages 3-18 at Pascal Baylon in Ca. He apparently is employed by ex Catholic priest Matthew Fox who is now the head of the infamous creation spirituality center and is into witchcraft. Many of these guys have Yoga in common and they promote homosexuality. The Cleveland Diocese is known for this problem in its seminary and among the pederast priests. The crazy thing is that when pederast priests are exposed like Fr. Joseph Leibreth from Holy Family and like what Fr. Arko appears to be some of these Catholics parishioners still want them back. Talk about a diabolical disorientation! There are good priests but I am sure that they feel very paronoid in a climate like this when some bad priests are shedding a bad light on the office of the priesthood.

Liturgical Dance: The Revolution's Latest Phase © by Kathy Willett Redle, M.F.A. There are some who feel insulated from the liturgical conciliar Church Revolution. (1) They may say "Not at my parish! We have an Indult Latin Mass parish or a reverent Novus Ordo parish which has avoided liturgical dance, Eucharistic ministers, communion in the hand, and altar girls (this is a rarity). Is anyone really safe when the Church is in the throes of liturgical, doctrinal, and moral revolutions? The world is not a safe place and is getting less so because God is ignored or reviled. Even those...

Anyway keep up the good work exposing the rif raft.
