Isn't that second one the Divine Mercy?
Art is so subjective, I don't suppose there's any one representation of anything holy that would satisfy everybody. (Which is why there is so much to choose from, which is good! :-D )

I take it from your complaint that you watched the entire ceremony, including the reception afterwards.

"(Burke) really tried to persuade people with his moral teaching but he will find that Missourians don't take kindly to being told what to think and what to do," said Bishop G. Wayne Smith, leader of the Episcopal diocese. Evidently trying to persuade people to follow moral teaching is not a big problem for the Episcopal Church in Missouri.

No. I didn't realize the reception was broadcast. I wouldn't have watched it anyway.

Rev. Kieschnick may have preferred to remain as low key as possible since his mere presence there would have been seen by some old-timer Lutherans as a problem. According to the official doctrine of the LCMS, the Pope is still the AntiChrist. I guess that makes Abp. Burke the AntiChrist's official representative in St. Louis.

Good choice. The gym in the high school where they had it is rather dismal. I spent a lot of time there in my teen years.

In my ECUSA parish, people going up to the rail and crossing their arms are telling the priest they wish to receive a blessing, but not communion. I have on rare occasion seen some teenagers take the host but cross their arms when the wine comes around. I don't know whether that is due to an issue with alcohol or not.

I don't know how it would actually work, but if, somehow ABP Burke, Rev. Kieschnick, and Rev. whatever his name is who is the head of the Assemblies of God (located across the state in Sprinfield, MO) ever put out the word to all their people here in Missouri to do something simultaneously, it would probably scare all the poor liberals out of seven years growth.

So then you have NO IDEA if Burke recognized those folks at the reception.

So then you have NO IDEA if Burke recognized those folks at the reception. I would have recognized them at the Mass. What if they didn't go to the reception?

It's a rare clergyman who passes on free food.
As to "I would have recognized them at Mass," perhaps you were passed over for Bishop because you don't understand protocol.
