It seems to me that they differ in such:

Religion says "We have the right answer, now we need to find the right questions to support it"

Science SHOULD say that "We have the right questions, now we need to find the answers to support it"

In other words, a bad theory is discredited by the evidence where ID/Creo theories tend to discard or distort
the evidence that contradict the theory.

But I still don't see why they have to be in opposition.
Things need not be so contorted.

(The Line is HOT, the Line is HOT!, commence firing!....)

I am not a traditional creationist like you are assuming. Nor do I think creation should be taught in schools. Judeo-Christianity should be taught as an adjunct to history as a foundation for western civilization.
