Please, allow me to critique your use of Scripture and then tell you why you have no idea what you are talking about.
You blank blank blank.
Kidding...Who siad there is no humor in the religious forum.

[sigh] Take discussions regarding Mormonism to threads posted for that purpose, and I'll decide on a case-by-case basis. That's not much of a guide to how I should post.

The context will tell if those are what is meant. That's exactly what I've been saying. I used the term to mean weakling, etc. BUT NO, apparently the etymology of the word ORGINALLY meant female anatomy so any other connotation is thus sinful. Do you suppose that the application towards cats had anything to do with the original meaning? Sheesh.

The wierd thing is that whenever the words of the Leaders WM is discussing are posted, the threads are yanked with no discussion. What causes this fear of discussing (for example) the behavior of Mr Hinckley in regards to the White Salamander letters of Mark Hoffman? And why is this an unacceptable discussion to air in the Religion forum?

Seriously, the guidelines are contained in the original announcement. Follow them (Him).

Did I not say that everything we moderators complained that you all were doing up to the date of the posting of this thread was forgiven? Give me a little
quid-pro-quo here. Until I became the moderator of the Religion Forum I paid no attention to what was going on over here. I don't know why those threads were pulled. I didn't pull them.
It's a new day 'round here. Just as new for me as it is for you. Let's start from there, okay?

No problemo. Just sort of curious about the etiquette nowdays (I would hate to blunder into something in error). :-)

Cool! (note: Peace sounds too hippy and I really cannot abide hippies: too stupid and smelly!) :-)

The weakling meaning DOES derive from the female anatomy word.
Beside, in it's own right it is derogatory even when used to call someone a weakling. Weakling is not pleasant; calling them a "p" is a personal attack.
You lose on either count there, but my guess is you should just do what you want. If you get zotted, then you'll know.
But I have spoken wisdom to you.

I want to know who all these whiners are.
Somehow I suspect the whiners on the religious forum are frequent flyers.
Always having their feelings or sensibilites hurt.
In all honesty the only group I have seen that is constantly or consistantly ridiculed by mainstream christians are the LDS members of the forum.
Every faction seem rather comfortable calling them names and ridiculing their religion.
So who is it that whines all the time?

AJ's post #493:
Mountain Meadows Massacre. Before Sept. 11 it was the largest religiously-inspired mass murder in American history. The guy who ordered it liked to bring 'em young. Some of these attack posts can be very brief. Consider all the false accusations in just two sentences: "largest ... in American history", "religiously-inspired", "mass murder", "The guy who ordered it", "liked to", and finally the oft-repeated play on President Young's name "bring 'em young".
It does no good to reply to such posts. They just come back with the same thing next time the subject comes up, whatever they think are the best-sounding accusations.
(I do not flag AJ because I do not want to seem to be inviting more of the same.)
Marlowe's #389: But if we are going to have free and open and cordial discussions of religion, then allegations (whether true or false) against religious leaders and allegations (whether true or false) about what certain religions teach or have taught in the past, should not be considered as violative of the spirit of the religion forum or of the general posting rules on FR provided they are done to further discussion and ultimately seek the truth rather than to ridicule or berate any particular poster's beliefs.
In theory that may seem to be a high-minded and noble idea, but in practice it doesn't ever work out that way here because of a multitude of posts like #493 and because of the lack of a scholarly approach to subjects that require lots of careful scholarship to present them in their most accurate light.
Anyone trying to read such a thread (and Marlowe and I have posted on dozens of them over the months and years) just gets a load of disinformation, inflammatory rhetoric, and poisoned bait. Why should I cooperate with that?
It is better to stick to the Scriptures. The Word of God tends to calm the discussion.

"The bell curve: Shouldn't the Pope be able to chop off the offending end of the curve? The question of their Catholicity: Why does the Pope suffer non-Catholics to be in communion with him? Matthew 13:24-43

Matthew 13:24-30
"24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

We all want the gentle ones who have been driven away to come back, and the aggressive ones to cooperate and live by the rules of the forum. I politely disagree. Speaking on behalf of the aggressive lobby, we would like the gentle ones to show a little backbone, and grow a thicker hide. It might help them to stick around longer. Iron cannot sharpen iron without generating some friction in the process.
