Paradigm shift

I've been trying to rearrange my life through prayer. I'm finding that, in an age of instant gratification, miracles are obscured because they tend to unfold at a slow pace. Today I had the strongest realization the prayer is never a duty but it is always a precious priviledge.

Today I had the strongest realization the prayer is never a duty but it is always a precious priviledge. "God gives to all the grace of prayer, in order that thereby they may obtain every help, and even more than they need, for keeping the divine law, and for persevering till death. If we are not saved, the whole fault will be ours; and we shall have our own failure to answer for, because we did not pray." St. Alphonsus Ligouri

I think we are always answering for our failures.
I feel that one's whole life is a continuing prayer wittingly or unwittingly. Our life is a prayer offered up with love and devotion or sputtered profanely. In my case it is both. God's grace helps us dilineate between the two perhaps.

Our life is a prayer offered up with love and devotion or sputtered profanely. In my case it is both. Sounds like you're being rather harsh on yourself. You appear to have a prayer life and seem to be doing your best to allow God to work in your life. But as you stated, God doesn't always respond to our prayers as fast as we would like. Heck, sometimes his response in NO! I believe the key is to remain faithful and persevere until the end.

Pray as if your life depended on it.
Come Holy Spirit, fill the heart of Snugglepuss and enkindle in Snugglepuss the fire of your love. Send forth your truth and you will renew Snugglepuss.
Amen!

Instead of trying to rearrange your life, let God do it. Ask that His will be done in your life and for clear signs before you proceed with anything.
I ask God constantly for billboards instead of whispers and He usually comes through for me.
