Uh, since I was in first grade in the 70's, it was a Novus Ordo Mass. There were about 10-12 guys who served that night. Most of them were carrying torches, if I remember right.
And then there was Holy Saturday the year Father couldn't get the fire lit and the six eighth grade boys who were serving (all boy scouts) managed to get it lit for him.

Sinky overstates his case. As much as there is for Altar Boys to do in a Novus Ordo Mass, there's much more for them to do in a Tridentine Mass.
Is this thread a practice run for a SNL skit?
