A believer visiting in England was shown the coach used by the royal family for state occasions. In the back of the coach were two little seats. The visitor was told they were for the royal footmen. The royal footmen had the job of following along side the royal coach as it moved through the streets. The visitor remembered the verse, "Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life..." and he said to himself, "They don't know it, but I am a king and I have two footmen..."
And so it is for all the children of God. In this life only kings, queens, princes and princesses have footmen that run along after them. But God has promised you two footmen as well. According to the Bible, goodness and mercy are your royal footmen. If you belong to God, you have this beautiful and royal privilege...wherever you go, goodness and mercy will follow you, attending to your life. Even in your loneliest hours, "the footmen of Heaven" are there, right behind you, working all things in your life for good. So as you journey through this life, give thanks. God's footman - goodness and mercy, are attending at your side all the days of your life. And that's a royal privilege.
TODAY'S MISSION
Meditate upon how God's goodness is always with you, no matter what. Imagine yourself going through the day, with His "footmen" - goodness and mercy with you at all times and in every detail.
