Concerning: EZEKIEL 23:1-4 this chapter is leading to the eventual Exile of the Jewish people from ISRAEL to Babylon and their 80 year Captivity.
Ohalah – Hebrew meaning: “her tent”; and Oholibah – Hebrew meaning: “My tent is in her”.
The word: “Prostitution” used in the context of these specific verses represents Political Alliances with Pagan powers Not Idolatry as found in Ezekiel chapter 16.
We find that in Ezekiel chapter 16, The LORD is speaking of a Spiritual turning away from Him and Physical involvement with the fertility rites of Canaanite Paganism, referring to Jerusalem’s continual hereditary tendency – bendt toward Evil.
The word “Daughter(s)” used in the context of verse 46 of chapter 16 is referring to areas of land as in Suburbs or Satellite Cities in Israel.
This is a direct correlation to the people’s willingness to “prostitute” themselves by willful Disobedience to GOD and their Sins of: Idolatry, Perversion and Pride; all of which are a far greater offense than that of Adultery and ordinary prostitution.
