Hinduism teaches that salvation comes when man merges back into God through the cycle of reincarnation. Islam teaches that the way of salvation is to obey the Shariah, Islamic Law. Buddhism teaches that the way of salvation is to extinguish all desires and passions and enter a state of nothingness called "Nirvanna." Orthodox Judaism teaches that salvation comes when one observes all the mitzvahs to the point where one's good deeds outweigh one's bad deeds. These different teachings have one thing in common. They all maintain that salvation has to come from man. It's all about a hand reaching up to heaven and hoping, by one's own effort and strength, to achieve it.
The one who needs to be saved, by that very fact, cannot save himself. It has to come from above. and all the religions and faiths of the world speak of an arm reaching up, and of our achieving salvation, except one, the Gospel. For that alone declares not an arm reaching up to Heaven, but an arm from Heaven reaching down. So stop struggling. You can't save yourself. And you don't have to. Messiah is Heaven's arm reaching down to you. Just grab hold of it. And He'll do the rest.
