Somehow the nickname "Corny" for Cornelius Van Til is a misfire.
\
He was professor emeritus at WTS when I was there and he spent his time on campus just making himself available to students. What a remarkable and godly man.
Some pretty solid dudes at the foundation of WTS and the OPC.
Now Carl "Whacky" McIntyre is another story....

Somehow the nickname "Corny" for Cornelius Van Til is a misfire.I'm a huge VanTillian in many areas, but "Corny" is not entirely off the mark. I recently read a funny review from John W. Robbins**
** -- Calvinist Chief of Staff to the honorable Rep. Ron Paul, the Libertarian (okay, "Republican") US Representative from Texas; and Editor of the textbook LOGIC: In the Beginning was the Logic, And the Logic was with God, And the Logic was God.
In reference to Van Til's penchant for ambiguity in expression, Robbins related a toast given (not by him) in Van Til's honor at some Reformed holiday dinner:
"Many would say that the greatest mind of this part of the Twentieth Century would be that of Professor Albert Einstein. But as for myself, I would propose our own Cornelius Van Til. (robust applause) After all, it is said that only eleven men in the entire world can understand Einstein; but nobody -- nobody on God's green earth -- can understand anything Van Til says." (much applause and much laughter)
I'll try to scare up the actual citation if I can find it. ;-)
best, OP
