The firemen of Genoa Texas were bored. Eight of them decided to stop talking about fires and start setting them. In a three-year period, over forty fires in Genoa were set by the firemen, usually in abandoned buildings or grass fields. The fireman became very busy, starting fires, rushing to the firehouse, then back to put out the fire they had started. One day they made the mistake of stting fire to a barn owned by the brother of a Houston fire department official, prompting an investigation which led back to the Genoa firemen.
What do we learn from these amazing firemen? It's easy to forget your purpose in life, and in the Lord. Many churches and ministries start out for the love of God, only to end up with no love and full of ego and sin. As a believer you may have started out with great zeal and love for God, only to end up living your life just to get by. WAKE UP! The Lord has placed you here to be a light to the earth. Get back to your first love and your calling or you could end up like the Genoa firemen.
