Yes, well, Bernardin wasn't Catholic. Neither is much of AmChurch. The silly Neo-modernist bowl of FRUITLOOPS that is trying to pass itself off as the Catholic Church needs to be cleaned out. Most of the current "bishops" seem not to be up to the job.

There is a very unfortunate impression among the liberal Catholics who are Democrats that FDR's socialism programs were a great idea. FDR was a maniacal anti-Catholic tyrant. You can't vote for pro-abortion maniacs just because they promise to soak the middle class with high taxes and give money away to the poor. That is very poor reasoning. They have the poor thinking they are going to get free handouts while the genocide population control campaign against humanity goes into high gear. Any Catholic who votes pro-abortion should be excommunicated.

Bishops, priests, and nuns who support the socialism of the Dems are not "Catholic." They are socialist dupes for the anti-Catholic pro-abortion secret society weirdo types manipulating U.S. politics. It's a sordid mess. The Bishops need to excommunicate the pro-abortion Catholic politicians. End of story. Just get rid of all these creeps. Give NO MONEY to any diocese where the bishop tolerates this silliness. Give NO MONEY to any diocese where the bishop allows Catholic colleges and high schools to be run by liberals and anti-Catholic wacko types. This is a racket that must be ended.

The Bishops need to excommunicate the pro-abortion Catholic politicians.

Excommunication is a specific canonical penalty. The Church would have to, canonically, state that voting for abortion-rights legislation carries the penalty of excommunication. This would have to come from the Pope.

Bishops are NOT free to excommunicate whomever they wish, willy-nilly.
