Not being a Catholic I find it so offensive when this man is referred to as the "Holy Father".

the recitation of the rosary to see Christ with Mary's eyes"

What is this all about?

I believe a lot of depression is caused by repressed anger and failure to get sufficient exercise. Too many people in our time are physically inactive. Also, my other theory is that with electric lights, we go to bed later and our sleeping schedules are not in sync with nature.

Some forms of depression are strictly biochemical.

Consumerism, along with financial worries, does cause stress which can lead to depression.

There may be other factors which lead to depression which have nothing to do with consumerism, like faulty relationships, being trapped in situations you have to stay in for survival, gender blurring in modern society, etc.

Sometimes consumerism alleviates depression if you don't go overboard. People have always loved to shop.

Just some thoughts.
