I found a great website today. It looks fabulous to me as someone who was never taught the ways of the pre VII Church. If anyone has the time to check it out and give some feedback I'd be most appreciative. I've found it very educational.

http://www.kensmen.com/catholic/beingcatholic.html That site is amazing!!! Chock full of information, exceptionally well organized!!!
I looked mostly through the "Before Converting" and "Things You Need To Know" and dabbled in the other sections, and I think it is top notch!

I found a great website today. It looks fabulous to me as someone who was never taught the ways of the pre VII Church. Here is the home page: Apologia
It used to have a different name, but I can't recall what it was. I have corresponded via traditional Catholic email groups with the woman who runs this site, and based on my experience, I would recommend it highly.

Went to that website and checked it out. What wonderful information. I've bookmarked it and will be exploring it further. Thanks for posting it.

Thank you for this site. This was of interest to me.
" too many converts may find themselves in places where "RCIA classes" (the classes taken by most adults wanting to convert) are run by dissidents who oppose Catholic teaching, water down doctrine, or simply don't cover important basics of the Faith, such as the Communion of Saints and Purgatory. "
Some time ago I have had first hand knowledge that this is true about 'classes'. However what I also know is the absence of an approved 'classroom' teaching source w/handouts that sets forth what Catholics should believe. [The Catechism contains a lot more than the Apostle's Creed and is not a listing of an affirmation of some simple statements of "I Believe......"]
So what's useable out there now that distinguishes between what 'Catholics have to believe' and the history of the Church?

Wow! This is wonderful! I could spend hours on that site! How I wished I had seen it before I was baptized and confirmed in April of '99. Extremely informational, for a relative "newbie" like myself.
I will be passing this link along to some of the candidates/catechumens coming through our parish through our OCIA.
In addition, I will forward this site to my Mom, who will be confirmed this coming Holy Saturday.
Thank you so much for passing along this terrific find, CoD and Max!
Hey Jay! Check this out and let me/us know what you think.
