I have seen the pics of that Cathedral, the communion rail there even has gates still, most impressive, though I doubt they are used still, but at least they are still there.

One of the reasons why the gates are still on the communion rails in the cathedrals is to keep visitors out of the Sanctuary. When Mass is not being said in our cathedral, they are always closed.
