Cardinal Arinze will not call for wider use of the Tridentine rite (my title)
Inside The Vatican ^ | Oct. 24, 2003 | Robert Moynihan

This is an exerpt from Robert Moynihan's column "An October Week in Rome:"

However, I learned this: Cardinal Francis Arinze, head of the congregation which handles liturgical matters, told me that a document on the Mass that his office, along with the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, is now preparing, will not call for wider use of the Tridentine rite, but only for more use of Latin in celebrations of the new rite. He said I had misunderstood him when I reported after talking with him in May that the new document would call for wider use of the Tridentine rite. Because of my report, many people would be disappointed when the new document comes out and does not address the Tridentine rite at all, but only the more solemn celebration of the new rite, he said. (The document is now expected sometime this winter.)

I would like to see at least one developer create a Gothic suburb with a fair share of Catholic art and architecture on display in the town square.

That would be interesting. I could just see current developers' ideas of gothic. Butresses made out of siding. Cast concrete statutes of saints. Landscaped town squares (must have sod). Common ground...oh, now there's a scary thought.

And then there's the little matter of getting people to buy and build the houses.

Aluminum-siding Gothic? Stained glass with Walt Disney characters? [irony] Or Elvis stained glass?

LOL! Or...Britney Spears stained glass...Hillary Duff...Mary Kate and Ashley...Pamela Anderson...4-bedroom version of Hugh Hefner's manorial Playboy Mansion. With adjoining golf greens.

I'm quite seriously trying to picture a gothic master bath. Stained glass shower doors, inlaid marble tub, cast iron fixtures.

COuld revolutionize the industry.
