Gibson Changes Movie Name to "The Passion of Christ"; Will Add Subtitles

Mel Gibson is changing the name of his movie, "The Passion," to "The Passion of Christ" because another movie by the same name is currently in production. He is looking into whether the title, "The Passion," can be used overseas.

Mel has also decided to use subtitles in his movie.

I think I will see if first and then decide.

That sounds like a good idea to me.

I remember seeing "Papillon" when I was around 14 or 15. I was pretty traumatized.

I am a bit disappointed about the subtitles though.

Me too.

Thanks. Good possibility for the reading list, but I have my doubts it will pose anything new to challenge me that I haven't already read in other books of the type.

Here's looking forward to (hopefully) a great movie!

Next I want someone to do Moses and Noah right, not the cleaned-up, pussified versions made so far. Why do they always have to sweep all of their flaws under the rug for public consumption? That one could be so flawed yet be a great leader (and chosen of God if that affects you) is inspiring.

God bless Mel!!!!

The "no subtitles" concept was intriguing, but I'd always expected that in the end, he'd have to add subtitles.

I just saw "Moses" starring Ben Kingsley (1996). It might be what you were looking for.

That's one for the watching list. I like Ben Kingsley.

Quick test: Who did the talking to Pharaoh? How did they handle Moses murdering the Egyptian?

Both Moses and Aaron, although they portrayed Moses as having speech difficulties. The murder of the Egyptian was portrayed sympathetically. The Egyptian was beating up on a Jewish slave and Moses lost his temper, knocking the Egyptian to the ground and "accidentally" killing him.

Totally sanitized, scrubbed clean of fact and meaning for easier public consumption.

No movie's perfect. But at least it doesn't have the weird, otherworldy feel of the Cecille B. DeMille epics.

No movie's perfect.

But that's what I want, well, at least very close on the obvious details. And that's what I expect Passion to deliver.
