Oh, yeah, she's definitely anti-Israel. I wonder if Lieberman won the primary, if she would hold her nose and vote for him anyway, or not....

Ever since that false prophet Mohammad came onto the scene and obtained an army, the message has been the same.
Capitulate and do and think what we want or we will get angry and threaten to attack (actually attack in some cases as in Sept. 11th) you in some way. Their attacks can be political, ideological, physical, etc.
The idea that Islam is a "religion of peace" and that they actually believe there is "no compunction in religion" is total propagandistic crap, i.e. it is an absolute lie.
The people who attacked us on Sept. 11th meant to take away our entire way of life.
May the Saudi family rot in hell.

A government-sponsored panel says the United States must dramatically transform its negative image in the Arab and Muslim world to better meet the dangerous challenges of extremism.

Alternative universe paragraph: A government-sponored panel says the Middle East must dramatically transform its negative image in the rest of the world to better meet the necessary challenges of modernity.

The bleak state of our relations with the Middle East was underlined by the 13-member U.S. Advisory Group on Public Diplomacy in its report titled "Changing Minds/ Winning Peace," with a subtitle that sums up the report: "A new strategic direction for U.S. Public Diplomacy in the Arab and Muslim World."

Alternative universe paragraph: The bleak state of the Middle East’s relations with the rest of the world has been underlined by everything they have done for the last millennium. Advisory groups and reports are not necessary to determine this, no matter what the names/titles of groups/reports.

The study has come at a critical time, with tensions escalating in the Middle East and the cycle of violence taking another spiral downward. Like similar past studies, this report will gather dust unless President Bush plays a more even-handed role in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Such a move would require courage for any politician but it would transform him or her into a world-class statesman.

Alternative universe paragraph: Studies discussing this phenomenon cannot be critically timed because the barbarity of the Arab/Muslim world has been a permanent fixture. As such, reports outlining the obvious problems of a backwards civilization generally deserve to gather dust, as would a study stating that the sky is blue. Arabs need to play a more even-handed role in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Such a move, however, would require tolerance of terminally intolerant Arabs and transform them into civilized human beings.

A recent suggestion by Democratic presidential aspirant Howard Dean that the United States be even-handed in the Middle East caused an uproar with the other Democratic White House candidates.

Alternative universe paragraph: Recent suggestions by Middle East experts state that Arab/Muslim governments need to even-handed in the Middle East. This always causes an uproar with irresponsible, intellectually adolescent anti-American liberals, who believe that the U.S. is the source of all evil in the world.

But if the United States is to regain its respected status in the Arab World, Washington must change its one-sided policy, which has embedded deep bitterness among Arabs.

Alternative universe paragraph: The United States can never gain the admiration of the Middle East because it is not a primarily Muslim nation (European nations fool themselves into believing they are respected; in truth they are useful idiots in the Arab world’s racist hatred of non-Arabs). The Arabs must change their one-sided policies, which has embedded deep distrust among Americans and Jews.

Blah. Blah. Blah. There are two sides to the coin, and Arabs/Muslims have not held up their end of the bargain. End of discussion.

The "image" that the US has to change is that of a country that can be fooled by the most absurd Arab lies, that is so addicted to Arab petroleum that it acts blind and deaf to evidence of Saudi treachery, that is capable to being wheedled into shortchanging its flesh-and-blood ally in the region, and is so gun-shy that it will not go all out to punish its enemies (such as Osama).

Hmmm, how does one regain that which never has existed.

"But if the United States is to regain its respected status in the Arab World, Washington must change its one-sided policy, which has embedded deep bitterness among Arabs."

Are ALL Arabs delusional?
Do they REALLY believe they will succeed in eliminating all Jews and Christians from the "Holy Land"?
I for one, don't care for their "respect"...
I want them to acknowledge that they realize that their continued terrorist behavior can/will result in the destruction...

If the Arab world desires "respect", I would suggest that they get their lunatic fringe under control.....or we will..

The "hard way"...

Good point, we have never been respected in the first place. They don't know the meaning of the word respect. They don't even respect each other. All they know in their sad cult is death and destruction.

Helen, Helen. Your side keeps stumbling into reality, and your desperation betrays you. Rush is right, the Left gets crazy when they lose power.

God, it drives them crazy. It's not that we don't hear their anguished cries, it's that we hear them and we still don't care. They seethe, they write editorials, they pout, they demonstrate loudly in the street with rag-stuffed puppets on poles, they do about everything but take careful intellectual inventory of their own attitudes.

It really is tiresome by now. We hear it echoed worldwide: Americans are arrogant, they take what they want, and they ignore the global village to attend to their own selfish agenda.

This broken record plays through our too-eager big media and finds sympathetic ears only on those of us Americans who are pre-disposed to blame America first. Identified another way: the college educated, the disgruntled and underclass citizens who hate everything at any rate. That the intellectual elite and the angry poor agree on this point is noteworthy. Quick to agree that "we" Americans are arrogant and infuriating, they apparently don't count themselves in amongst the horde of unenlightened Yankees. But guess what?

New polls show that most Americans simply ignore this hand wringing, they do not care what other countries collectively think of the USA. While this "news" staggers the elite journalists and the malcontents, it is completely fitting that the majority of citizens of America (the shining beacon of free thought and self-determination among nations) holds the opinion of its inferiors in some contempt. Let them blubber. Given a chance, they would take our place as the rich, healthy, swaggering, powerful, successful nation immediately.

Well, not immediately, they would not wish to do the heavy work needed to create such a success story, the backbreaking building of America's infrastructure was done by their betters. Actually, America was built by their own countrymen who had the guts to immigrate to our shores and take the big gamble: thrive or perish. The bravest and smartest left their home countries and accepted America's tough bargain. Work hard here and open your mind, America will reward you with instant freedom and eventual wealth. Education combined with the work ethic will pay off every time; it has for 225 years and continues.

So the hateful media and the envious and angry foreigners think America is arrogant… so what? Let's ask the recent immigrants what they think. Foreign-born immigrants in America say they are happy here (96%), they would come here again given the choice (80%), and I suspect they approach hang-wringers with some disdain. As in every facet of life, those that do hard things tend to snicker at those who won't or can't.

Forget that without arrogant Yankee tourism dollars, most of these yipping yappers would remain in third world squalor. America pulls the lifestyle of the globe up with it, and it weighs heavy like a water soaked business suit. We buy their products and they make our gizmos. If they had the guts to read our Constitution and enact it they, too, could realize our achievements. Our success was paid for with the blood of patriots.

I call 'em as I see 'em. The chorus of America-hating whiners is wimps, weak, petulant, ungrateful, hypocritical and spineless. We hear them, we just don't heed.

The problem with strengthening our ties to the Arab world is that it invariably involves capitulating to them. What we need to do is win their hearts and minds without turning a blind eye to terror.

Helen is partly correct; our image needs changing.

I want them to think of as those guys who will bend over backward to help a decent person ,but also as those guys who will stomp yur butt into total oblivion if you mess with us.

NOBODY respects a pansy.

The quickest way for the U.S. to improve its image with Arab world would be to make Helen wear a burqa, take away her drivers license, and stone her once in a while.
