ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - A fourth-grade teacher was suspended after being arrested for investigation of prostitution, officials said.
Dennis William Gosnell, 32, of Tustin, was arrested Wednesday evening at an Anaheim hotel during a sting operation and was released several hours later after posting $1,000 bail, police Sgt. Rick Martinez said.

Unbelievable that sex between consenting adults is illegal.

Do you have any 4th graders at home?
To: Cincinatus' Wife
A teacher bringing personal sex life into the classroom would be fired. This is about her personal sex life outside the classroom. People have sex for so many different reasons _ how can it possibly be logically differentiated?
To: Bronco_Buster_FweetHyagh
Yes this is about his personal/professional sex life.
Again, do you have a 9 year old at home?

Porn stars, male & female, male & male, female & female. One & all they fornicate and perform lewd acts for specie, and it is protected and called art?
Well in my book, whores by any other name, are still whores.
Why are these people not arrested like the common prostitutes they are for their paid acts Along with the producers and directors jailed for pimping, with the distributors and adult movie house owners for running a house of prostitution? It all crosses state lines, therefore it becomes a federal crime.
Double standards for enforced laws and punishment abound in our brave new world.

What I have at home is private, and irrelevant. Are you trying to imply that a teacher engaging in sex for money is somehow legally different than anyone else engaging in sex for money?
Please point out where the Constitution outlaws prostitution. Interestingly, there is a "right to privacy" that makes abortiion legal, but not sex? I find it strange that our Constitution protects the right to murder a baby, yet you cannot have sex for money.
This is a sick world.

It's also a good world. I guess when he started moonlighting, it became an issue at school.

Where in the Constitution does it say " right to privacy"?

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but I'd be leary of any male who teaches elementary school, period....

I agree with most of what you've said about porn, and would love to see comercial distribution made illegal.
The difference between porn and prostitution, though, is the second-hand nature of porn. Consumers of porn do not pay for sex, they pay for the video. A crucial legal difference.

Old Learned Hand, former Supreme Court icon, once told a guy crying about unfairness this:
"Young man, this is not a court of Justice. It is a court of Law."
If we don't like the law we have to change it legitimately through our representatives. If you don't like the idea of your neighbor shacking up with the Playboy Channel or a blow-up doll be comforted that his attention is diverted from more harmful pursuits.
But the dude was wrong to engage in his money-earning pursuit on the school's time. While that pursuit was morally repugnant he really didn't commit a felony.

Again, do you have a 9 year old at home?I've found, as this thread shows, that the effectiveness of this kind of question in awakening the moral sense of a liberatarian is limited. But thanks for trying.
Our youngest is 11, and I thank the police for working to keep his like away from our children.

I find it strange that our Constitution protects the right to murder a baby, yet you cannot have sex for money. The constitution is silent on the topic of sex for money. Prostitution has been outlawed in all states except Nevada where it is legal on a county by county basis.
To: Bronco_Buster_FweetHyagh
This is about HIS personal sex life. What are the chances that a gay pedophile would pursue a life career that would put him in charge of his prey? And that, further, he was ultimately too careful to get caught?
While Socialist would dismiss this as tin foil hat coincidence, I tend to attach significance to this...

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but I'd be leary of any male who teaches elementary school, period.... You deserve it too. Part of the problem is that we need more male elementry school teachers. The young boys need to see role male models, a PE teacher at least, and so do the young girls for that matter. The boys especially need someone who will understand than even pre-teen boys and girls are not the same, and that the boys need to be treated as they need to be treated, and not like girls. Fewer boys that the female teachers don't know how to handle would mean fewer on stuff like Ritatlin, and fewer JDs in the future as well. (Dangerous, intelligent JDs at that)
