I Just tuned in KGO, AM 810, to listen to Bill Wattenburg and he started the show by saying he has learned that top Democrats in Sacramento are sabotaging Governor Elect Schwarzenegger to make it impossible for him to balance his budget and to repeal the car tax increase and make a fool out of him.
They are pushing NEW contracts through the Governor's Department of General Services at record speed. It is their intent to spend the state government into oblivion in spite of Governor Davis' statement of offering a smooth transition.
If you live on the west coast, you can hear KGO at night, due to skip conditions. Wattenburg is asking Davis to not approve any new contracts and is asking for people's help in staving off this desperate Democrat tactic to seek petty revenge at huge expense to the people of CA.
Call Wattenburg at (415) 808-0810 and express your support of his whistle blowing expose'! Tell him you learned of his efforts on FreeRepublic.com!

Although I voted for Magnificent McClintock, I find this dastardly deed to be totally vile!!! As a CA citizen who honors the decision made by Californians to choose Arnold Schwarzenegger, I find this despicable and needing Freeper attention!!!
Dr. Wattenburg's show continues tonight, till 1:AM and will be on again tomorrow night,(Sunday) from 10:PM to 1:AM. He didn't support the Recall because he didn't think Davis was that much at fault, but he's outraged by this vicious B.S. by vindictive Democrats!!!

Even though it would not have the force of law, someone should pass around a 'recall the senate/assemb' in 04 petition to keep the energy level up and the focus on the right path.

I ma sure it will backfire on them. They just put themselves into a lose-lose situation.
If Arnold succeeds despite of them, he can point that out, and how the Dems have been obstructing him -- this will help people really revolt against the Dems and it will help Bush in 2004.
If the Dems succeed in their efforts and Arnold can't do everything he promised, because of their obstruction, he will make sure the people of CA will know this and boy, will you see a real housecleaning in the Dem Legislature in the next election!
To: SierraWasp
Heh, heh, heh. And these are the people Arnold says he can work with. Stupid Moderate Republicans.
To: GOPJ
Do you spose Arnold will call Willie Brown and ask him to attempt to stop this severe non-sense?

How much you want to bet Willie Brown is behind it, especially since he's now got the keys to the castle?

Wouldn't new contracts have to be dated post recall election? Effectively making the socialist in Sacramento look very bad once the books are opened up.

Right. We knew this was going to happen but were told Arnold was the only one who could "charm" the Dem legislature.
No surprise here at all.

On the other hand, here is another article:
"It is in Democrats' best interest to help Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger resolve the state's budget mess instead of fighting the governor-elect on partisan issues, according to an internal memo from a Democratic strategist.
It's tempting to let Schwarzenegger fail, Sragow said. He's splitting from other Democratic elected officials and consultants who suggested that strategy, however.
The car tax Schwarzenegger wants to repeal "is hugely unpopular with California voters," and can be used as a wedge issue by Republicans if it remains. And continued budget gridlock may be self-defeating for Assembly Democrats who must all seek re-election next year, while -- barring another recall -- Schwarzenegger won't face voters until 2006.
Assembly Speaker Herb Wesson thinks Sragow "offers some good advice and at this point does not disagree with it," said a spokeswoman.
Voters feel vulnerable to terrorism, to the economy and job losses; victimized by corporate scandals and California' electricity crisis; and angry over the state's budget gridlock and massive deficit.
"That's why there was a recall," Sragow said. "They're mad as hell and they're not going to take it anymore. Anyone in elected office ignores that at their peril."

It should open up several state legislative eats as well :^D
I can imagine the libs being this vindictive, I have to wonder if they're that stupid though.

I believe you may very well be correct on you take on this, but Wattenburg said they started on this well before 10/7/03 when it became appearent that Davis would lose. The emails he's seen floating around the radio station are describing TOP CA Democrats, even including some in the US Congress who are involved!
Yes, it's stupid, but they honestly think Schwarzenegger is so inexperienced that they can do this stealthily enough that "he'll never know what hit him!" They think it'll cause severe disappointment in the new administration.
Yes, Bill Wattenburg liked Gray Davis, but he is the first to "back-lash" at what Davis supporters in state government are doing as the REAL "Bad Actors!" He described it as "vulgar" and is getting a call from someone right now demanding he name names and since he won't is telling Bill the he is "vulgar" for putting this is people's minds.

This was an easy Democrat tactic to predict. In fact, lots of freepers predicted exactly these types of shenanigans over the past month.
On Wednesday (or Thursday?) Rush gave the heads-up for these tactics and more. Rush said that the wacky Democrat legislature would be sending Governor Schwarzenegger all kinds of gay-marriage bills, gun-control bills, and other liberal culture-war stuff in an attempt to put Schwarzenegger on the spot.

I spent a couple of days in San Francisco, and just got home. Dang! There are some really unhappy people there. Reading the SF newspaper was a cross between nearly laughing out loud at the not at all subtle ire at Arnold (which always devolved into Bush Bashing over Iraq and "irresponsible immoral spending") and wanting to choke the people who wrote the stories and columns.
I thought Seattle was leftist (and it is) but by comparison at this point in time it seems down right moderate.
