ITHACA -- With the right attitude and a bit of magic, another world is possible, according to a Pagan author and activist.
Starhawk spoke to more than 200 people Wednesday, encouraging them to take an active role in changing the world for the better. Citing Dion Fortune's definition of magic -- "the art of changing consciousness at will," Starhawk asked people to be aware of "broken things" in today's society, such as increased corporate control and global effects of American policies.

Internationally known, Starhawk is recognized for both her political activism ...Following an earth-based spirituality made it impossible not to be an activist, said Starhawk, who recently returned from a trip to Cancun to protest at a World Trade Organization summit. Her group, the Pagan Cluster, has used magic as a tool to bring about change in that cause and many others.Oh, really...?
Given that her "magiks" have stopped neither the WTO nor the war in Iraq (nor the election of President Bush, the election of a Republican congress, etc.), I'd say she needs to get her mojo working a little better.
Either that, or we've got God on our side. ;-)
Starhawk said it's impossible to just sit back and watch negative changes in the world such as the cutting down of redwoods in her home state of California.
LOL. A tree hugger. What a shock.
Starhawk told audience members that they should use magic and increase awareness by telling a different story than the one perpetuated by corporations, politicians and the media.
Yes, one of complete fantasy.
Werier said that he liked Starhawk's approach of not only being out there as a Witch, but also being down to Earth and taking action the make the changes everyone wants to see in the world....Werier has read several of Starhawk's books
So basically this guy is like a Trekkie only lamer?
Events were sponsored by the United Pagan Ministries and hosted by the coven, along with several other community organizations.
Now that's a sentence you don't often read in a newspaper any where but Ithaca.
Ithaca is the City of Evil.

Read the article. Could smell the faint aroma of incense and hear low volume Enya tunes in the background. Strange....must have been majik.

On the bright side, once the final chapter of Lord of the Rings hits the theater, these goofs will be occupied for a while with making Frodo and Elfqueen costumes and camping out for opening night tickets.

"A group ritual followed the speech. Starhawk said its purpose would be to promote of truth and expose lies. She warned participants that they would need to confront personal dishonesty."
Sure. Like the father of lies would be exposed in this person...

I'm tempted to report you to the FR hall monitors for abuse. This is three days in a row that you have tortured Freepers with reports on the lunacy going on in Ithaca.

Starhawk must be experiencing flashbacks from the brown acid she took at Woodstock.

"Starhawk", as seen at last year's antiwar rally in San Francisco.
Pretty much what you'd expect.
