But it could be said they are just engineers. The late Dick Feynman once said to me (yep!) that physicists solve the problems and equations and engineers just use the formulas. Dick was no doubt a 10, though don't care for that hackneyed expression either.

There can be spyware and adware installed on macs. You are vulnerable among other times on download.

The point, inPhase, is that, so far there ARE NO SPYWARE PROGRAMS for Macintosh OS X that will or can download and execute themselves! Yes, an unaware user can download a "adware" program and install it... but it requires a conscious decision to do so; it will NOT do so in the background. If one does something stupid like installing a spyware or adware, it is easily gotten rid of, unlike spyware and adware on Microsoft Windows products. In addition, if a user DOES install such malware, it will only affect HIS account, not the other users of the same computer.

So, where are these programers capable of cracking Unix? Why haven't they come forward and announced this accomplishment to the world? Where are their viruses and worms? Gaining access is NOT the same as writing a self-propagating virus or worm, or even a clandestine spyware program.

Again, inPhase, it was YOU who implied that Apple was installing invasive spyware on your computer... Please provide your evidence.

Quite frankly, if Apple wanted a spyware or tracker program on Macintosh computers, it would be built into the operating system and NOT haphazardly downloaded and installed by visiting a website... something like Microsoft did with Windows XP.

Well, until I SEE the results of these grad students impacting a UNIX system I will not worry about removing adware and spyware from my Macintosh G5... and I will continue making money removing such stuff from my clients' Windows machines.

It is pretty funny. Methinks the lawsuit was dropped after it failed the laugh test... How stupid is a "security system" that can be defeated merely by "holding down the Shift Key as the CD is inserted?" Pretty stupid, I would say. They deserve what they get for allowing such a "work around." They SHOULD be hoist on their own petards!

Can you imagine a bank that says their security is "designed for the 90% of people who would never" rob a bank??? I suspect they won't be in business long.

I just received an email pushing a similar music downloading website... which I think is also fraudulent! In fact I think it is the same people.

Kazaa is without a doubt the peoples choice. I downloaded Kazaa-Lite, which is Kazaa without spyware. It is not made by the Kazaa people, but somewhere in Central America, I think.

There are a few legal choices for downloading music legally from the net. Those of you who use Kazaa etc. to steal music from those who've spent money and time to create it are by definition stealing. Stealing is bad. Some of you are so casual talking about ways you steal music, it's disheartening. I hope honor and integrity aren't completely lost on FR....

I am going to try again. I talked to them Saturday and she acted as if, I had to be the one to negotiate to recover my money.

I've had payments refunded before. I don't know what the deal is , this time.

One good thing about credit cards is the ability to cancel payment, which I plan to do.

You might also make sure they haven't used your CC info to charge other things.....
