(snip)Arnold Schwarzenegger formed a politically diverse transition team Thursday, appointed a finance specialist to lead an immediate audit of the state's beleaguered budget and vowed to appoint Democrats to his Cabinet.

(snip)

His 65-member transition team includes prominent figures from across the political spectrum -- ranging from Republican George P. Shultz, secretary of state in the Reagan administration, to San Francisco Mayor Willie L. Brown Jr., a liberal Democrat.

"David Dreier, a Republican House member from suburban Los Angeles, will lead the group, which he called "an unusual team for an unusual governor."

Mayor Willie Brown is only one of a 65 member team. I don't like his track record; but I don't think he will have that much of an influence.

Besides, did he 'need' to be appointed since he is Mayor of SF? That may have been a factor in choosing him.

Jim Hahn, mayor of Los Angeles, and son of long-time L.A. County Supervisor Kenneth Hahn (deceased, but a liberal icon in L.A.), is also on the 65-member team. So you may be right.

George Schulz backgrounder:

About Mikhail Gorbachev: The goal of this unrepentant Communist continues to be a socialist world government with power to manage and monitor every human resource according to the will of an elite "Council of the Wise."

George and Mikhail: Back in 1995, George Shultz served as Chairman of the Board of Advisors of the Gorbachev Foundation, which had been "created to assist in the process of building global consensus for our common future." The same year, he co-chaired Gorbachev's first annual State of the World Forum in San Francisco together with Ted Turner, Maurice Strong,[6] and other international leaders "chosen for their internationally recognized contributions to designing our emerging global civilization."

Shultz's ties to Gorbachev link him to a network of leaders determined to unite the world under a socialist banner.20 To them, national sovereignty, the U.S. Constitution, biblical absolutes, and parental rights are offensive obstacles21 that hinder progress. They use the word "democracy" but refer to a world where, as in Communist countries, only the compliant are free to express their opinions. 22 In this context, expedient lies are more valid than truth, and a human life has no value apart from its place in a political agenda.

Carly Fiornia, another globalist.

Private sector joins UN's poverty battle
Last week, Ernesto Zedillo, the former Mexican president, and Paul Martin, an aspirant prime minister of Canada, announced at the UN in New York the creation of a UN Commission on the Private Sector and Development, aiming to remove obstacles to budding entrepreneurs in the developing world. Other commissioners include Carly Fiorina, president of Hewlett Packard, Anne Lauvergeon, president of Cogema, and Rajat Gupta, a senior partner with McKinsey. Mark Malloch Brown, head of the United Nations Development Programme, said the commission reflected the "next big thing" in third world development policy, an increasing engagement by the UN of private enterprise. Kofi Annan, UN secretary-general, asserted: "We cannot reach [poverty reduction] goals without the support of the private sector."...In parallel, the UN claims its three-year-old "Global Compact", which brings together the UN, non-governmental organisations, labour and multinational companies, is beginning to spawn initiatives with real results. It cites the example of Shell, the international oil company, which has initiated solar energy and water projects with the Care and Oxfam charities in Ethiopia.

Business Needs Long Term View On Developing World-Fiorina 09/02/2002 Dow Jones International News (Copyright (c) 2002, Dow Jones & Company, Inc.) JOHANNESBURG -(Dow Jones)- Global corporations should take long-term views in efforts to build new markets in the developing world, Hewlett Packard chief executive Carly Fiorina told delegates at Johannesburg's World Summit on Sustainable Development Monday. Fiorina said businesses should take longer views "than a quarter or two or a year or two." "We are committed to investing in the less developed countries of the world," she said. Hewlett Packard hasoperations in about 160 countries. Fiorina was speaking at a conference session on growing sustainable business in the world's poorest countries. A new member of the Global Impact, a corporate citizenship initiative launched by the U.N. in 2000, Hewlett Packard recently struck a public-private sector partnership in Senegal and will Tuesday announce a similar agreement in South Africa. Fiorina said sustainable development, especially in developing countries, needs partnerships between governments, business and aid agencies. Mark Moody-Stuart, chairman of the Global Compact Working Group, said partnerships between specific countries and companies will be announced within the next few months. He said six to 10 countries are currently being considered by about 25 companies. Six companies have indicated their willingness to be lead partners. "We can't say which countries or companies are involved, but it is important to note that the countries involved are normally those that business would not rush to," said Moody-Stuart.

Public private partnerships are fascistic and undermine constitutional government. Do you think this person is _really_ going to help California, or push us further in the waiting arms of global socialism??
