They are still wearing burkas (actually it is chadrai) because they want to, not because they have to. As in any free country, they are now allowed to dress as they see fit. Some still choose to practice the beliefs that they were taught. It was that way in the 60's as well and the Afghan women could dress as they saw fit during that era. I am so glad that at least now they have the option.

I'm sitting at my desk, crying. Tears are rolling down my face. I feel silly.
These pictures are wonderful, a tonic for the soul.
Thanks Diogenesis. Thanks FreeRepublic.

I think that's a fair question to ask a station manager, if you have a local station. The studios for our nearest broadcast channel are 70 miles away, so we don't get up there too often.
OTOH, I've taken the editor of our local newspaper to task regarding the photos he uses, and have shown him these threads. He's starting to come around!

Excellent! I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for those photos to be aired on the alphabet stations - and too bad because this is exactly what the sheeple need to see.
Anyone got Mike Farrell's email address (or any of the other idiots)? Like to see what he's got to say now.

I think they are requesting that no more packages be shipped until they figure out new transportion. The military says it can't support it anymore. That's unfortunate since this was sounding like a very popular effort.
Of course, I don't suppose it would be very "freeper like" to politely contact some congress critters and news people to shine a little light on the lack of military transport would it? ;)

Boy, the international community needs to get off their duffs and get something done there in Afhanistan. It would take so little money to at least clear away the rubble from the bombed buildings. These things have been there since 1995. Get some bulldozers in there, hire some Afghanis and get it cleaned up!!!!!
