Rush has in fact disclosed this and his difficulty with pain and meds in the past, although IMO he may not have fully inderstood the gravity of the situation 4-6 years ago.I, too, did not understand the gravity of my addiction 4-6 years ago. 4-6 years ago, I did not see how cocaine was going to affect my life. 4-6 years ago, I did not see how cocaine was going to cause me to deceive a woman who -- while possessing many of her own faults -- had no reason or right to be decieved by me. 4-6 years ago I didn't realize all the money and time I would waste and all the job problems and other personal problems it would cause.
Well, it's 4-6 years later. I'm a tiny bit brighter now. And I haven't touched cocaine in almost a year.
Not that it's been easy. It's been a lot tougher than kicking cigs.
Nov3: Screw the email. I wuz gonna ask you if I should come clean about my dirty laundry. Too late now. :o)
harpseal: You have the right to know about my faults before we proceed.
Chancy: Thanks for the advice all the way through this, esp. the advice about going to NA.
Travis: Thanks for all the advice all the way through this, esp. the advice about seeking regularity and stability.
Reg: Thanks for being there all through it.
Cool guy & Neets & Squantos: Same to all three of you.

You done good dude !.......My addiction is to purdy girls, Meyers Rum, Corona Beer and anything that goes boom or bang ! It has been costly as well but short of some physical, financial (divorce) injuries never a long term health hazard per se so I can't relate to a "real" addiction like you have experienced and kicked.
My Respects sent Laz............STAY SAFE !

Bless you for your strength in working to overcome addiction, and for your testimony -- your words may help others struggling with their own demons. Congratulations on being free of cocaine for nearly a year!

God bless and good luck.
My hunee and I were discussing this topipc over breakfast this morning. We wondered how many people might be moved to help themselves since Rush has taken this step. With 20M listeners, he just may have saved many lives this Friday past.

I, too, did not understand the gravity of my addiction 4-6 years ago. 4-6 years ago, LAZ,
Uggh Ohhh! Rush is not a bad addict you are!!!!!!! These people on these threads think Rush isn't a drug addict. He is not a junkie! He was addicted to drugs he initially got from a pharmacy. They can't even grasp he was scoring illegal drugs and committing FELONIES. Rush is a good addict. You are a bad addict. A maggot infested etc. I, because I used street drugs, am maggot infested too. Bad addict - Good addict. Get it?
Shortly you will find out that all Rush (a Jew) has to do to beat this is figure out which church he is going to handle snakes at! Run down the aisle and BOOM saved! (Not to say this isn't possible just not probable) You will find out that Rush is a "good addict" and therefore can be in the company of "good people". He is not a real junkie.
Some people here think Rush can WILL his way through this! By force of WILL he will beat this addiction. They can't see that he subverted his morals, made illegal drug deals, risked his freedom, his position in society, his health, and probably lost his hearing to this addiction. All through strength of WILL. He isn't a real junkie, no he is special. If he thinks this, as you know, he will be toast.
These people do not get it and I pray for them that they never have to.
Good luck and drop me a line.
