I feel as if I have been punched in the gut. Rush is a great man, that is for sure. God bless him, his family, and all dittoheads.

Pretty hateful post there, Wolfie Wolfie could care less, IMO. He lights up his bong and keeps posting articles on how wonderful and enlightened socilaist Chretien Canada is for decriminalizing his wonderweed.

I really don't want to pry, but in light of this and the fact that I'm totally ignorant of what Rush is headed for here:
I understand the detox from these medications can be very, very unpleasant. Worse in many cases than the "street" drugs, since the actual pharmaceuticals are carefully formulated for potency.
Is that consistent with your husband's experience?

How did the news present it? Pretty straight forward. The newreader just said that he had stated he was addicted to prescription pain meds and then played a tape of his comments.

Thank you so much for posting the transcript. This helps tremendously--and also prevents distortions of what he ACTUALLY said.

And the WAR ON DRUGS claims another victim.
You all must be so proud of yourselves.
Drug addiction ruins lives, and more people don't seek treatment because they fear the consequences of admitting to illegal acts.

RUSH said he has been addicted for 5-6 years after spinal/back surgery.I've pooh-poohed the stories that this medication can cause deafness. I am now willing to revisit, rethink and re-investigate.

Wow. I find it truly amazing that he has been able to function as he has while addicted to such a terrible drug. But then again the thing about over a hundred pills a day way probably an out and out lie. Maybe a few at most.
To tell you the truth, I am very shocked by this, but I have no less respect for Rush in any way. He is still a great man and a national treasure. It's not as if he decided to go out on the street and buy narcotics from a dealer. He was prescribed a terribly addictive drug after the back surgery that the doctor botched, and he simply got hooked.
What I truly respect is that he admitted he has a problem and is going to get help. I greatly look forward to more excursions into broadcast excellence in the future!
God bless Mr. Limbaugh. I will certainly pray for this great man.

There are two kinds of addiction. Physical addiction and psychological addiction. The physical addiction will be taken care of in about five miserable days (and nights). This is the withdrawl stage.
The psychological addiction is the hard one. I would think that someone with Rush's drive will be able to overcome this more difficult addiction.

Ah, maybe we could start a daily Rush Prayer Thread....like the one for our Awesome President?
He's going to be going through some serious crap the next 30 days (trust me I know. been sober for 15 years and I still consider my 30 day program as the most trying times). Our prayers could help make the difference.

The National Enquirer expose had nothing to do with his "confession"? Yes of course the 'Expose' has everything to do with this 'confession'. Before then it was a PRIVATE MATTER, which in reality... IT STILL IS.

Isn't amazing that All the Usual Suspects who preach tolerance and kindness for all, to whom nothing is really a crime or cannot be explained and excused away will be the ones now parading through the streets crying for Rush's head. Lying liberals!
