"There's a bill that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has introduced that I think is terrific. It gives temporary working permits to immigrants so they can come in and out of this country, out of this state, and also, you know, there's another idea. Undocumented immigrants who come here before August 2003 can apply for visas especially if they don't have a criminal background. And if they have a job right now, they can apply for that visa. So there are different programs I want to push in that direction to help undocumented immigrants."

By the way, there are plenty of workers here now to pick the crops - we don't need the invasion to continue! We do not need 20 million Mexicans to pick the crops. One millions will do just fine and they have been here for decades. We are being invaded. We are a sovereign nation with a Consitution that MANDATES that the Fed. Govt. protect us from invasion. It's the law of the land. Deal with it. L-A-W. Do you know what that means?
To: Luis Gonzalez
tell you what, you send YOUR kids or YOUR grandkids into the fields to pick tomatoes and cut grass for a living, YOU send YOUR daughter or grandaughter into the maid pool at the local Holiday Inn, I'm not.Luis, read my "rant" again. My son did menial jobs between the army and a career. My daughter-in-law likes housework, and is often tempted to go back to that instead of office or retail. My just-retired neighbor spends hours a week on her garden, she might as well be doing someone else's for a wage, too. If I weren't able to tutor Math (or it got stale), I'd do laundry.
Many neighbors pick the bogs in the autumn...it's a nice check for Christmas. Sometimes, Cambodian workers are used, but it's highly regulated, they have decent conditions, their room and board is suprivised and provided, and they go home with a nice check. Under those conditions, there isn't that much financial advantage to this alternative.
Why wouldn't you want your children to do that kind of work? My son did lawn work, some lumbering alongside a prison gang, and grocery store bagging. He helped a neighbor who got an odd job scraping paint off a tenament house one summer. I think it's character building and necessary for people who will be in charge of others. And work like this isn't demeaning. If employers aren't trying to exploit workers and cut corners, there is no shortage of good labor, and with the numbers of people reaching retirement, there won't be for quite awhile!

It's nice to have HOBBIES and SUMMER JOBS, they're a far, far cry from actually WORKING, and the people who run the farms and the hotels need a reliable work force YEAR ROUND year in, and year out.

As for the rest of your rant, it's more of the usual crap that Americans will take up the slack...tell you what, you send YOUR kids or YOUR grandkids into the fields to pick tomatoes and cut grass for a living, YOU send YOUR daughter or grandaughter into the maid pool at the local Holiday Inn, I'm not. Cry me a river...your emotions are showing. ALL Illegals should've been DEPORTED in the first place. Your attachement to your race is more important than the welfare of this country...why don't you just come right out and say it. A statement like that makes it obvious.
Then you can figure out how to increase the birth rates in this country so that we can better replace the retiring hordes of baby boomers and maintain the Social Security system viable.
It seems to me that a costs for providing social services (for ILLEGALS) far outweigh the "benefits" of SS. Retiring age must be coming up real soon for you eh? Don't worry...you got that radio show going for you.

That was a right on target reply. Beautiful.
FWIW, my daughter worked at a nursing home in the as kitchen help while in highschool. As a college graduate with 2 degrees, she now works in a university research department. My son who refused to go to college worked every kind of job from McDonalds to Roto Rooter. He is now very successful owning 2 businesses. He has already maxed his social security.

"Wait till the convention in New York. The RINOs will be offering more visas than health clinics offer condoms. And they will be doing that at the site of the WTC attacks."
You don't seem to understand the understand the difference between a visa and a green card.

"There goes Arnold -- Trying to give amnesty to millions..."
What part of his campaign speeches did you not understand ?
... and did you not trust him to do what he said he was going to do ?
Do you understand the difference between a work visa and a green card ? - If so, why do you chose to misrepresent them ?

The spineless Republican party should have backed McClintock and asked Ahnold to back out. They wanted the easy win. Hope the rest of us have won something with Ahnold. We'll see. If he makes good on the illegal license issue he will be on the right tract.Too bad he and us have to spend time fighting such on obvious wrong. Actually its good that Ahnold won. McClintock could NOT have turned California around. He's a Republic politician and the Dems out there would have set him up to fall and the media would have gone along with it. Ahnold has one advantage -- the media cannot ignore him -- he's a suuupa stah. He has a bully pullpit to at least out any of the Dems that take him on. Whether he uses it or not is the question.

... and they would be wondering what happened as Tom, Davis, and Cruz return to their same offices on Tuesday morning as if nothing had happened.
... except now all three of them owe even more to the Indians, Davis pushes to be Hillarys running mate, McAullife closes the door on California for Dubya, Cruz starts gearing up to replace Davis ....

""It seems to me that a costs for providing social services (for ILLEGALS) far outweigh the "benefits" of SS."If that statement were true, and in light of the fact that I was discussing the dynamics of replacement birth levels and worker to retiree ratios, then the cost of providing social services to anyone, whether illegal immigrant or natural-born, citizen would outweigh the benefits of SS.
