a consensual sexual encounter that spiraled out of her control. I really have to wonder what she thought was going to happen when she went into that hotel room.

I hope you don't have a daughter who ever goes to a hotel room with the intention of kissing and it ends in violence.
Poor judgment, yes. But I don't know anybody who was that young who didn't exhibit poor judgment at one time or another.

I really have to wonder what she thought was going to happen when she went into that hotel room. Just going into a hotel room is not "consent".
And with this one, she's an employee of the hotel, it would be natural for her to go into the room for a variety of reasons.

Before this incident I never heard of Kobe Bryant - I'm not a basketball fan. However, if I were a judge I'd throw this case out of my court. I would tell the young lady she was wrong to go to his room and I'd tell Kobe he was, well what was he? I think he was just a man who received an invitation from a woman and he acted on it. They are both young, foolish individuals who both behaved badly.

Whatever she may have thought was going to happen in that room, it is pretty sure that she never dreamed that she was surrendering the right to say, no. Or to suspect a guy with at least some college education, would have a problem with understanding what no, meant.

How stupid of me not to realize that a woman coming into my hotel room was a green light for sex whether she wanted it or not.

I really have to wonder what she thought was going to happen when she went into that hotel room. Probably didn't occur to her that she would be choked and raped.
