In cafes and hair salons, offices and parks, Bay Area voters were shaking their heads Wednesday and saying they were worried about the future of California with Arnold Schwarzenegger as its governor.

Not surprisingly, the liberal Bay Area was out of step with the vast majority of California. All nine Bay Area counties, along with adjoining coastal counties from Humboldt to Monterey, (and also Los Angeles) voted no on the recall, according to the secretary of state.

The Bay Area isn't just liberal, it's almost like another country. If Fidel Castro ran for mayor of San Francisco, I bet he would have a fighting chance of winning. They are nuts, plain and simple. And it always wasn't that way -- in 1976, Gerald Ford received about 40-45% of the vote against Carter - much higher than the 20% Republican vote now.

Nice that the vote was for sanity. Perhaps the far left coaster (literally) will take a back seat for a change.

Another example if liberal elitism. They are smarter than the average joe, so they need to rule over the rest of us! They need to make sure we are safe from ourselves.

"The Bay Area is the most liberal and most forward-thinking of California," Arbil said. "I'm really proud of being from the Bay Area, that we voted no on the recall."

I live in the bay area, and it's the closest thing to a socialist state in this country. The media is totally biased. There is no such thing as fair and balanced. The sheeple believe what ever they are programmed to believe. That's why my husband and I are getting out of here as soon as he retires. It's like living in the USSR.

"I think we're more up on the issues," said Webster, who closely followed the campaigns.

ROTFL....what issues were the Dems up on???? The only 'issue' the Dems seem to care about was who Arnold groped 30 years ago.

In 1964-65 I lived in San Francisco. My first job was there. (I commuted to my first job on a cable car.) My first child was born there. It was a magnificent area with terrific climate and excellent restaurants. At the time, I thought I would live there.

Boy am I glad that circumstances intervened, and my next job brought me back to my hometown, Baltimore. San Francisco has descended into the seventh circle of Hell, politically and socially. It's a damned shame, because it still has the terrific climate, the magnificent geography, and the potential to become, again, a preferred tourist destination.

How can they be forward thinking-while patting themselves on the back?

Did anyone see the publisher (Mr. Sharon Stone) on Obermeyer last night? He led with "When are you going to stop making fun of the recall?" before Obermeyer had a chance to start the interview. Mr. smarty pants.
