Couric Raises Spectre of Republican Plot, Racial Motivation in Bugging of Philly Mayor
The Today Show
Posted on 10/09/2003 4:32:28 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest
Katie Couric of The Today Show just completed a segment on the news that an FBI bug had been discovered in the office of Dem Philadelphia Mayor John Street.
Street's administration has been rocked by scandals, including accusations that it fixed parking tickets for allies and awarded a $13.6 million contract to a firm linked to the mayor's brother. An aide to Street has been charged with threatening a landlord who rented space to the campaign of his Republican opponent, Sam Katz.
A balanced approach would have included guests from both sides of the issue. But true to her style, Katie only invited in the Mayor himself.
Not only did Katie offer up the traditional softballs she reserves for Dem guests, she resorted to her favorite technique to push her own views under a very paltry guise of journalism.
Twice Couric cited her favorite source, the all-knowing: "some." Thus, stated Couric, "some" have suggested that the FBI's investigation was politicaly motivated, part of a Republican effort to bring down Street, who is involved in a bitter re-election campaign against Republican Sam Katz.
And later in the interview, Couric, always eager to throw gasoline on the flames of racial division, asserted that "some" have suggested that the investigation was racially motivated, against the African-American Street.
Of course Street was only-too-willing to buy into Katie's conspiracy theories, though he actually conducted himself with more dignity and less partisanship than Couric.
Of course, Street's more temperate attitude might well have been induced by his knowledge of the depth of the corruption in his office.

I think the FBI should bug Katie's office.

My Today Show posts often elicit comments along the line of yours. While I understand the sentiment, I think it's worthwhile to monitor The Today Show, with its audience of millions, and report back to my fellow FReepers on their nefarious doings!

Hey, what say we throw a huge party when the network fires Ms. Perky and her shoes when she's older and not so perky anymore! That day is not so far off, ya know, heehee.

Looking forward to the awkward, phony moment when the new female host takes over, and Katie is there to "wish her well," as NBC announces that Katie will be doing "special projects." How long before we see her as a regular on The View!?

Thanks, CD. As for my stomach, it really isn't that strong. Since I've begun these reports, I've come down with acid reflux and become a Nexium gobbler!

NBC, as of yesterday ---- is owned by the French.
and is still a shill for GE and the other advertisers.
Couric, representing NBC:
"We (at NBC) all hope and pray that Saddam escaped harm, and hopefully fled to Syria."

The "perky one" was the sister of the late State Senator Emily Couric, a very liberal Democrat who represented the university town of Charlottesville and who was elected on her qualification that she was related to someone famous. So this strain of politics runs in the family.

HE HE I've always felt Katie comes off as having a bug up her, well you no where and it's not in her office.

Uh-oh. Now you're going to set off a string of colonoscopy references!

I appreciate your efforts watching this televised feces and reporting to us Katie's (and to a lesser extent Matty-poo) outrages. I used to be subjected to this tripe on a daily basis until my wife finally saw the light. Unfortunately, many voters, especially of the female persausion, are sucked in to this garbage. And don't get me started on the people who stand outside hoping to get interviewed by Al Roker. Talk about mind-numb robots.
