[history]
A strong precedent for reversing anti-gay laws was set by the Supreme Court earlier this year with its rejection of a Texas sodomy statute that criminalized consensual sex between adult homosexuals.
The Texas decision sent a clear and correct message that discrimination solely on the basis of sexual orientation is unacceptable. That message must now be applied to the adoption issue.

Not to mention the devastating effect on recruiting efforts by homosexuals!

Obviously, homosexuals seeking to adopt must be held to the same eligibility criteria as heterosexuals. Those criteria should be tough, and thorough background investigations must be run on all prospective adoptive parents -- whatever their sexual orientation. The criteria are the same for all people. Among the criteria is the requirement that the prospective adoptive parent does not practice homosexual behavior.
Perfectly fair and reasonable.

Did anybody see the new sitcom about a young man whose parents are EEEEK - Republicans - and they were characterized as boorish, ignorant, stupid .. while the girlfriends parents are EEEEEK - 2 male homosexuals who have raised this apparently very normal young girl.
I lasted through one scene. While these sterotypes may have some relationship to reality - they are to the extreme on either side. This is just another attempt by the LEFT to show the homosexual lifestyle as NORMAL AND OKAY.
Sorry .. I'm still not buying it. My moral value judgement is based on what GOD said. And .. NO ONE HAS TO AGREE WITH ME.

I'm against gay adoptions for many reasons. First, all the evidence states homosexual behavior is a choice, and that choice stemming from environment. Yes, it's true, the main cause behind homosexuality is
environment. It makes no sense at all to let confused folks raise children.
Second, the health hazards of the homosexual lifestyle are not something to which we should be subjecting children.
Third, percentagewise, did you read that right... that's percentagewise, gays are more likely to molest children.
The article entitled Trophy children contains additional reasons.
With more and more homosexuals leaving the gay lifestyle, we shouldn't be encouraging anybody to continue living a destructive life, let alone letting them adopt.

Homosexual parents do harm children. This is not the first time it has gone through the state system NOR is it the first time it was before the Federal Appeals courts.
The new zeland study on the effects of lesbian mothers on children was quite startling. Girls were more promiscous and likely to be lesbians, the boys were withdrawn, sexually timid and prone to sexual issues in future adulthood.
In fact in the FL family courts homosexuality can be used in family courts to preclude custody, mandate supervised visitation, prohibit visitation until full counseling is done, prohibit vistation until a certain age, terminate parental rights in extreme cases, and prohibit contact with any sexual partners. Its not a healthy lifestyle to raise children.

the swell is what homosexuallity is all about.

Children are better off in a home with both a mother and father.
Since there are tons of married couples waiting to adopt, it's absurd to let deviant males (or females) to take those kids and put them in a deviant environment.

Here is the statute that is the subject of this discussion:
FLORIDA STATUTES:
63.042 Who may be adopted; who may adopt.--
(1) Any person, a minor or an adult, may be adopted.
(2) The following persons may adopt:
(a) A husband and wife jointly;
(b) An unmarried adult; or
(c) A married person without the other spouse joining as a petitioner, if the person to be adopted is not his or her spouse, and if:
1. The other spouse is a parent of the person to be adopted and consents to the adoption; or
2. The failure of the other spouse to join in the petition or to consent to the adoption is excused by the court for good cause shown or in the best interest of the child.
(3) No person eligible to adopt under this statute may adopt if that person is a homosexual.
(4) No person eligible under this section shall be prohibited from adopting solely because such person possesses a physical disability or handicap, unless it is determined by the court or adoption entity that such disability or handicap renders such person incapable of serving as an effective parent.
History.--s. 4, ch. 73-159; s. 1, ch. 77-140; s. 1, ch. 80-194; s. 4, ch. 92-96; s. 336, ch. 95-147; s. 4, ch. 2003-58.

Between gay couples it's impossible for them to have their own kids, and there's a reason for that - nothing fits. I stated a few reasons why I'm against gays adopting in post 8, and there's no arguments against my reasons - I'm merely summarizing the facts.
We've adopted as well - two boys, who are half brothers of mixed race. Our oldest was 5-years-old when we first found him and he carried and still carries a lot of baggage from his past. Because of this, it is really difficult to adopt kids older than 5-years-old. That's not to say older kids shouldn't be adopted, it's just more difficult to place them.
Because older kids carry so much extra baggage, placing them with gay parents will only put additional stress on an already confused kid. And I know from personal experience that gays target (for recruitment) troubled kids.
BTW, out of all the couples we've met, none was looking for a "pedigree" white infant. That's not to say some couples are looking for just that, but none I've met fit that description, and we've met plenty over a 4 year period.

No clause in there prohibiting felons, or drug addicts, or known abusers from adopting? They wouldn't pass the background check.

Felons can be prevented. The criminal conduct falls under unfitness. The recently convicted frequently have ALL parental rights terminated in order to prevent jailhouse visitation.
Untreated adicts are precluded from adopting.
The best interests of the child take priority. There are more than enough experts who have and are willing to testify to the destructive nature of being raised by a homosexual.
Children are to be raised by a mother and a father. Individual examples are irrelevant to how society will establish itself.
