[history]
The voters yesterday raised the bar on performance in California government. When we elect somebody as leader, they emphatically told Gov. Gray Davis, we expect him to lead.
We want a governor who wakes up every morning worrying about our lives, not his own career. We want a governor who listens to average citizens, not just the lobbyists and campaign contributors at the state Capitol.

We want a governor who wakes up every morning worrying about our lives, not his own career. No we don't. We want a Governor who will stay the hell out of our lives. Let us solve our own problems. We're not all a bunch of helpless little dependents who can't wipe our own butts without some sort of government assistance.

This was also in the Fresno Bee, amazing since these papers are super liberal. Davis really is toast!

A quote came to mind that got passed around here awhile back
Arnold Schwarzenegger, 1990:
My relationship to power and authority is that Im all for it. People need somebody to watch over them, he explained. Ninety-five percent of the people in the world need to be told what to do and how to behave.

Demos make every kind of promise you could imagine to almost every special interest group. The problem is that Gray Davis try to keep all his promises and it just happen to be financial disaster for the state. Wow!!! A demo that actually kept his promises.

I agree. The title of this piece, that Grat Davis pays the price for ineptitude, is crap. Davis was not and is not inept.
Davis did just what the Democrats wanted him to do. He spent way too much money on the various unions, which caused the deficit to grow astronomically. He did not do this on his own, but with the help of his fellow Democrats in the state Senate and Assembly. He decided to allow illegal aliens to have California drivers licenses just before the election. He signed into law a bill that bans almost every semi-automatic handgun currently produced and called it a safety measure. Everything he did was right out of the Democratic Party playbook.
He was not inept. He was a "good" Democrat right up to the end. The people of California threw him out of office for being a "good" Democrat. This has scared the bejesus out of every other "good" Democrat in America. And that is good for everyone in America that doesn't ride the Democrat gravy train.

"Did you hear, Democrats and Republicans in the Legislature?"Since seats in the legislature are not subject to statewide election, many legislators won't pay any attention at all. They'll continue as they have been. The only difference is that they'll face the governor's veto.
To: NormsRevenge
All the Sac Bee can talk about is Davis' "mediocrity and indecisiveness." They don't say word one about his dishonesty and corruption. In last year's election, the man lied in his teeth to the voters about the financial condition of this state.
