Yes --- one of the Mexican government's biggest outcry about the recent lateral deportations was that we might deport a Honduran or Salvadoran to Mexico by mistake.

OMG! The governor might actually inforce the law? Isn't this still OUR country? Incredible. Arnold got quite a large portion of the hispanic vote, btw. much more than anyone suspected. This sounds like more leftist hype to me.

The 2000 population census show Hispanics make up 32 percent of California's population and their numbers are growing fast.

Whoa!

Back up the bus there.
32 percent? 32?

Would that be both illegal and legal? Legal only? What?

Latins, I thought, were not subject to the African or Arab cultural weakness of putting tribe above all else.

I may be wrong, but...

That's remarkable!

For discussion's sake, who picks your vegetables?

My wife. 40 feet from the back door. She grows and picks them for fun, she enjoys it.

Why do you ask?

Next question.

'Mexicans Fear Schwarzenegger to Make Life Tough'

To here those south of the border talk, you would think Schwarzenegger had the ability to start Mexican War II. That might be such a bad idea, but he doesn't have the military might to do so, but he does have a national guard capable of defending the California-Mexico border the next time some armed Mexicans attacks as has happened along the border from San Diego to the mouth of the Rio Grande.

So Mexico doesn't want any illegal immigrants from Honduras or El Salvador? Then why do those twits think we ought to accept illegals from their pissant nation?

...and? I'm trying to find a downside to that. In fact, let's make crossing our borders unannounced and by covert means, downright FATAL.

A smart gringo would start the " Picked by Whites" vegetable company"

A stupid gringo would do that for a multitude of reasons.

I'd gladly pay more to have my vegetables picked if it means getting rid of illegal aliens. Net net we would save money.

I don't think you're going to get a lot of support for killing people, even from those of us smack dab on the front lines. Stopping them and/or making it difficult for employers to hire them will do just fine for me.

What they ought to do is realize prosperity doesn't HAVE to end at the California - Baja border. Go home and fix up home. That coastline could just keep going on southward if Mexico would just adapt and allow it's citizens to be middle class.

Good point. There's no reason prosperity has to stop at the San Diego county border, especially when Mexico probably has less taxation because they don't need to maintain a huge defense like we do. Mexico needs to invest in its own infrastructure and enact true reform to clean up corruption and encourage business development.

Who's picking them in Wisconsin? The fact is, there are people who are willing to do every job in the U.S., it's just a matter of how much it pays. If illegals weren't here to do a job, the wage would go up until it hit the level at which somebody was willing to take it on. That, or the cost would be such that the job wouldn't be worth having done.

So you think the current fines and policies have made a dent? I could probably hit a half dozen illegals with a well placed .50 cal round from where I sit in a nice north Austin suburb.

Get it through your head right now that THEY ARE INVADING. I had no idea the problem was this bad until I moved to Texas a couple year back. It's gotten noticably worse just since I moved down here.

Let 'em come here legally. I've got no problem with that. The drain on our resources paying for all their social servies IS JUST TOO DAMN MUCH.

Oh, how nice! We tried to grow produce, but most got eaten by deer or rabbits. They even eat our flowers, sometimes mowing down the entire plants overnight.

many in Mexico fear he will now make life tough for Hispanic illegal immigrants.

Obviously, Davis was not making life tough for illegal aliens. He should have tried to get help deporting illegal aliens to help reduce spending and the budget deficits, but, instead, he tried to welcome illegal aliens by ending the Prop 187 appeal, granting in-state tuition to illegal aliens, and offering CA ID to illegal aliens.

If the possibility of change with Schwarzenegger scares the illegal aliens, then that's great! Maybe they'll consider following the legal immigration process.

I wish it were true that Arnie and Bush were tough on illegals.Bush certainly isn't. He can't even defend our borders. Will Arnie be better? Will he form a state militia to do what the feds won't? Will he order state officials to arrest illegals? Will he try to stop welfare for illegals? Will he fight for prop 187?We'll see.

Re: "Mexicans Fear Schwarzenegger to Make Life Tough"

Who's kidding whom?

google today's news for, Schwarzenegger McCain

Here is "Schwarzenegger to Repeal Law Giving Illegals Licenses," by Melanie Hunter CNSNews.com Deputy Managing Editor

Schwarzenegger said he plans to help undocumented immigrants, and he pointed to several proposals, specifically one introduced by Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) that gives temporary work permits to immigrants.

The governor elect also pointed to another proposal that gives undocumented immigrants who arrived before August 2003 the chance to apply for visas as long as they don't have a criminal background, but do have a job.

"I want to push in that direction to help undocumented immigrants. But this has nothing to do with the driver's license issue," Schwarzenegger said. He called the issue "a bogus issue, because it was done just quickly before the election, I think, in order to get votes." [End excerpt]

Schwarzenegger said he plans to repeal the driver's license law. But, hey! who needs it if everyone is legal? Problem solved!

Yes, he intends to enforce the law but first he wants laws he can enforce. Neat, huh?
