Two words for you: TSMC and UMC. Those two companies fabricate a large percentage of the silicon parts used today. If those two companies go off-line due to Chinese invasion I believe the impact on the world economy would be extreme. Furthermore, it takes a whole lot more equipment and technology to build a wafer fab than it does to build a factory for building cars. The modern day wafer fab is a multi-billion dollar investment.

Rebuilding a wafer fab can't possibly cost more than fighting an all-out war over Taiwan.
