AUSTIN -- Actor Alec Baldwin was in Austin Tuesday night for a fund-raiser for House Democrats. He came bearing a gift: A box of dog biscuits for Republican Gov. Rick Perry.
"I wanted to give this to Tom DeLay's lap dog, Rick Perry," he said.
Republicans have been working to draw a new redistricting plan to increase their strength in Texas' congressional delegation, now ruled 17-15 by Democrats.
DeLay, the U.S. House majority leader from Sugar Land, has been one of the strongest advocates for redrawing the lines.
Democrats have opposed the move and a few of them joined Baldwin as he launched into a tirade about redistricting, the California recall and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Republican Party leadership and the Bush administration.
"Mr. Baldwin's political views against President Bush and Republicans in general are well known and documented," Gene Acuna, a spokesman for Perry, said. "I have no doubt that Texans will give the comments made by the star of 'Beetlejuice' all of the attention they are due."

Looks like Democreeps everywhere are cracking! Why don't we send a one way ticket to France to Baldwin. Wasn't he supposed to be there by now? We should really help him get there ya know it's taking much too long.

Nothing so offends a democracy-loving liberal as allowing Republicans to vote.
I loved Acuna's response, but he was probably a bit dismissive of Alec's achievements. After all, he's also made such cinematic landmarks as "Mercury Rising," "Scout's Honor" and "Thomas and the Magic Railroad," and who can forget his uncredited cameo in the immortal "Adventures of Pluto Nash"?

Just stay centered when presented with such partisan nonsense, and remind people of the core issue: fairness.
"Republicans got about 58% of the votes in the last election. But due to Democrat gerrymandering, we got only 44% of the seats. That's unfair no matter what the party labels are. So we've been trying to get lines drawn that are fair -- whereby 58% of the votes gets us about 58% of the seats. Any questions?"

Rick Perry was in New York recently showcasing Texas' improved climate for business. He met with several top industry groups and company CEOs, with the intent of attracting additional business to Texas. Conspicuous in his presentations was the fact that Texas closed a $10 Billion budget shortfall without raising taxes.
Alec Baldwin whines and makes cute. He cries because his guys lost elections and he just can't stand it.
So which activity does the AP chose to publicise? You've got it, the whiner, not the guy trying to help his state.

Actually we live in Willianson County, not in the City of Austin. We did that on purpose. Did not want to be in the City of Austin or the Austin school district.
